We'll either be at Muckleshoot, or head down to Warm Springs for a little powwow for Pi-um-sha Treaty Days. Dunno yet. Kids' drum and we got li'l singers at both places.

Casey Wallahee said his crew -- often known as Wild Rose or Thirsty Horse, depending on exactly who's on it at the time I guess -- is heading for Fort Washakie.

So......the consolation prize is .....maybe a t-shirt or something??? If the consolations are worth prize $$$ these are not "winners take all".

I heard Muckleshoot was also having a Mens Grass Special worth over $6000!!!!??????

Winner take all : well technically you're right but I guess the giste of it means nobody will be picked 2nd, 3rd, etc.

Muckleshoot: Yes, there is quite the huge Grass Dance Special in memory of Cameron Johnston, a young grass dancer who lost his life in an auto accident last year. First prize is $2,000. I don't have the other amounts, but I recall them as being $1,500 second place, $1,000 third place ... anyways several places over a grand each and very tall trophies because Cameron liked trophies. There will even be a 10 and under Boys Grass special honoring Cameron's childhood (he was 22 when he died, I think?) with a first place of around $400. There is much effort being poured into this memorial and it will certainly be one of the biggest in the Northwest.

I think the whole community up here is so excited about this special and memorial for Cameron. You can feel the excitement in the air and for the family. Not to mention the Muckleshoot tribe has a all new dance ground, new camping area, etc. The tribe also has put up huge tents just in case of inclimate weather or if shade is needed. Gosh, I wish it was time to get off work now, to be heading out there. Dang, its only 9:16 am.

I had the opportunity to go to this powwow in the late 90's. Still got the t-shirt in my closet!lol The MC was a guy called 8-ball. He was pretty funny. My son got 1st in boy's tradish there. And the feeds were awesome! Had salmon and taniga!

Why must I feel like that..why must I chase the cat?

Let's say you have the months of May through August to do nothing but go from powwow to powwow - where would you make sure that you go? Why would you go there - because the competition is good? Because the comraderie is good? Because the food is good? Close your eyes and dream.
