We are leaving early tomorrow morning....Does anyone know if your can bring food into the Verizon center????? Gotz to smuggle in some snacks and drinks.....HA HA!!
I live in Maryland, and it's a 20 minute train ride to the Verizon Center for me. If I recall, if you enter through the dancers/singers door, I don't really think they care what you bring. I know I am bringing stuff from home. No one stopped me from doing that in 2005. It sure beats waiting in line in the Verizon Center concourse for food, because it's going to be jammed, especially on Saturday. I remember that the dancers all got plenty of water.

In may tickets from PHX to DC were only 204 w/taxes each! I don't know why I didn't get them then!

      I wish i was going. :(
The only time its too late to start dancing is when you're dead.

It's gettin' pretty exciting here folks!

All the head staff is in. We just had our orientation meeting for the head staff, special guests and war dance groups. All kinds of Indians are already sightseeing the DC mall!

80+ Media groups from CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, New York Times, Washington Post, Indian Country Today, Associated Press, 12 foreign news correspondents etc, etc, etc have let us know they will be here for tomorrows grand entry.

We had over 400 phone enquires on the Powwow hotline today from Alaska, California, Michigan, Edmonton, Florida etc. etc. etc.

            Over 150 have preregistered!

and I got to welcome Ol' girl and ndnMSW at the host hotel!

The host hotel is the Holiday Inn Capitol Hill, isn't it? I helped to open that hotel back in the early '80s. I was the head bartender there until 1984. I left when my husband got orders to go overseas. You're a straight shot on the Metro to the Verizon Center, and walking distance to loads of museums.

For all of you hitting DC for the first time, enjoy your stay!

Uh...the powwow ain't even over with yet!! Listening to the radio broadcast, only complaint is there are too many interruptions, dumb interviews with people walking by, which wouldn't be so bad except that you can barely hear the singing in the background and I'd rather HEAR THE SINGING!!

Color guard coming in...........then the winners!!

I was hoping someone had recommendations for Powwows near East Indiana that I could go to. Unfortunately I’m apparently the only...
