Sycuan Powwow Sept 7-9th

ok, i think its only right to post both winners list...the list from Sunday nite at the powwow and the REAL winnerz that we still havnet seen yet!! Am I aksing to much?

Hopefully things will be good for the people this year. Who is on their headstaff? Did they switch up the tabulator or is the family still hanging on?

Sycuan has a really nice pow-wow environment... grass, nice weather... ample parking. Finishes early on Sunday.

Well it seems that a few changes make a BIG difference! I was there this weekend and everything ran puuurty smooth. The tabulator did an awesome job! Thank goodness they didn't run all the contest every session, there were a few mixups and changes but for the most part it went well. Tabulation was done early.....but the money was "on it's way" so they had to extend the intertribals which meant a later ending but we still got out of there around 8, ALTHOUGH they were still announcing winners; hand drum, drum contest, when we left. There were so many categories that it takes forever to announce the winners but everything was fair and square. It was hot on Saturday, but cooler on Sunday. A much better powwow than it has been in the past. And LOTS of dancers!!

I was rereading this thread and it made me laugh.. it reminded me of the time when a powwow family went up to the committee after the powwow(ft duchense, years ago...) was over and complained that some of their family didn't place and some should have placed higher.. then the reason they said that was because they were "champion dancers" lol.. the mom was was actually yelling.. my daughter has placed all over!!!! lol..
I recently saw this happen again over at ute mtn powwow.. someone complaining after the powwow was over about placement... sheesh..
BUT...
the crazy thing about this is that the complaining paid off!!!! the committee gave into these "champion dancers" arguments and they came away with cash!!!

PW WAS HOT SAT BUT THE CASINO WAS NICE AND COOL!! so gald they excused adults!
