  • Bad Dog! - Dishonoring Drum at HI Pow Wow

Duane Chapman, aka Dog the Bounty Hunter, made an appearance at the Hawaii Pow Wow. He spoke of his career, but also of his Native ancestry. However his behavior was all but what you see on tv....

Red Warrior, a southern drum from San Diego, was singing an honor song for all Code Talkers, Native veterans and non-native veterans whom were receive a new medal given by the U.S. government when Dog's youngest son picked up a drum stick and started banging on the drum next to Red Warrior. The entire song was filled with Dog's youngest son drumming out of control.

When the song finished, Red Warrior asked who's kid was interrupting the song...at which point Dog said "You don't talk to the boy, you talk to the man! I am the Dog, do you want a piece of the Dog?" Stunned, the drummers looked at each other, and Dog began to call on the drum's veteran singers to get up and challenge him. Dog became irate and began to swear at the drummers...calling the drum, Bi&$^es, Pu*^ies, fu#$ers, and chicken sh*&s for sitting there and not getting up.

The Dog made eye contact with one of the drummers, who happen to be a grass dancer, and Dog continued to say "Do you want some of the Dog?" The drummer placed his drumstick onto the drum and got up and said "Yes, I will have a piece of the Dog,” while walking up to the Dog.

Dog and the drummer became face to face, just outside of the arena, and Dog replied "Lets go to the side and take care of this like men." The drummer replied "No, we're going to take care of this in front of everybody. I'm not afraid of you." Dog again challenging the drummer to a fight, and added, "Your sitting with nothing but bit@$es here." The drummer said "How could you talk to your elders like that?" Dog said "As far as I'm concerned, they're nothing but pu&%ies!"

Again, the Dog walked off and challenged the drummer to "settle this like men." The drummer said replied, "we'll do this in front of everyone." Then Dog began to cuss out the drummer again! The drummer replied "If you're suppose to be a movie star, "the Dog," but he is nobody. This drum now shames him."

Duane "Dog" Chapman has disappointed the Native community with his behavior. I'm just shocked that any type of celebrity, let alone one who says their Native, would behave this way at a pow wow.

Who was the arena director? It was his responsibility to take the stick away from the boy at that very second. Either way, that's what happens when you try to infuse Hawaiian culture with something foreign. Keep powwows out of Hawaii and make puppy soup in honor of the Dog. Also, I noticed that Dog's face is puffy and swollen, he kind of looks like John Ritter before he passed on to the spirit world. Soon, he'll be seeing his ancestors.

Don't be surprised at what one sees at a powwow. From drunken cousins to dying dogs, we've seen it all.

That's really awful! I feel bad for the folks at the drum and for the veterans whose song was dishonored in that way.

Not only does Dog make note of his native ancestry - he also professes to be a Christian. This behavior is a disgrace both to his ancestors and to his faith...

Someone should have muzzled that pooch...

Hey when are the powwows in Hawaii, my wife is over there right now in a women's field lacrosse tournament. They don't play until Friday. Then I think they play one game a day. What do the skins do there anyway.

He is a joke.........period. He ought to be a lil more careful who is embarrassing himself and his family in front of, tho. There are just some places a smart man wouldn't roll the dice but then again, "smart" is the key word.

Yeah that is truly disappointing. But that is true that the AD should have handled that with the son and not let that continue through the whole song. The committee didn't have security remove him from the grounds?? Why is it the organizers of this event did not take action to handle this instead of making a scene infront of the entire community?

Puppy soup is when you get the favorite puppy and make soup out of it. During the old days, puppy soup was given to premature infants to help them live. In fact, it's still used to heal sick infants. Also, puppy soup is used in ceremony.

Yep yep! If I ever see him, I'll be ready with scissors in my hand. I can't stand his dirty, ratty hair. *LOL* That's my opinion though.
