Actually it's going to be extra special this year cuz the Shoshonean Reunion is going on during the week prior to the powwow. (Not to mention, FF is on the committee!)

The Chief Washakie Plunge (hot springs) will be open for free all week, as well as the campground. There's lots of activities, lots of good food and lots of cool things to buy and check out.

man.. last time I went to this powwow they had a big problem with gangs there and this was the only powwow I've been to in all my travels where they was fights breaking out all over..
just wondering if this issue has been looked into?? cuz I remember the lighting wasn't too good and security just seemed to be standing around instead of walking.. and of coarse, a fight would break out where they weren't..
I did like the powwow.. good dancing.. singing... just this issue that i brought up made me go to turtle lake last year.. and I live in lander!!!! lol

We've beefed up our security. The number of altercations has gone down considerably. Come and enjoy one of the nation's finest!

Free camping available. We even set up 20 tepees for our guests......first come first serve! You shower at Rocky Mountain Hall (Community Center) or Chief Washakie Hot Plunge, natural mineral water.

I think we're gonna make it up there this year....and if the spouse can't, then I'll pack up the girls and my dad go ourselves....lol.

Where is the closest place to get a hotel? I can't remember if it's Lander or somewhere else, it's been forever since I've been up that way. Or we might bust out the camping gear, I think the girls would like that.

That is sooooooooooo cool that they have Sr. Women's Fancy!!!!!!!

closest place to get a room is in lander.. like 16 miles away.. not a bad drive.. casino is just north of lander between ft wash and lander.. there are like five motels in town.. but they fill up fast... and with the reunion going on.. then I'd suggest making res now.. but yea... there is camping too..
good to hear about the beefed up security.. my mom was visiting and I actually feared for her safety! never been to a powwow, even in a big city, that i felt that way..
good luck with the powwow and I'll see where i am around that time.. might check it out.. I know I'll have a place to stay.. lol..

I bet that is a gooood one!! My grandmother family came from windriver {Arapahoe side } and we used to go the the sundance and then go to the ethete powwow. GREAT CHILDHOOD DAYS THOSE WERE. Do you know anything about that powwow yet?
