scrubby looking drummers!

Whats so difficult about looking respectable if you are going to sit at a drum.It does not take that much time or effort to clean yourself and your clothes. Appearance reflects attitude and how you carry yourself, and it has nothing to do with what you have or don't have.
If you have a group of singers looking like slouches around a drum rest assured it will show in their singing and respect for what they are doing. Same thing with those drums I have seen who keep a small land fill of accumulated garbage around their drum area.

or the ones who go get ripped right before they jam out a song. I see that too many times

My nephew, at 6 years old, told a very popular lead singer of a drum group (who was trying to be with his mama) "You're FAT, Smell like Butt and Can't fit in our Car." When the singer asked why he didn't like him with his mama being together.
So I guess when Southern Singers are traveling all the time the rules around the drum do not apply to them like they do at home. I am sure that their Parents, Uncles, Aunties and Grandparents wouldn't let them dress or act like that around the drum at home.

n ya i agree .... if you can jam chances are .... you have respect for yourself n keep yourself clean. i've seen some pix ... where they have the close up of so-n-so's head n it looks like greasey n gross .. like EWWWW!!!

i understand that some of the guys who sing ... dont have regular jobs but still you get drum cut. spend a lil on some clothes ... dont have to be big brand names either. maybe if you feel good about yourself ... you will keep it tight ... and jus maybe ... you can rock it even harder ...

Yep I agree with ur little nephew!! some singers are just plain gross trying to snag looking all stink and gross... This just show how some drummer behavior in general. they look stink and gross at pow-wows then that how they are at home with there family. Kids know how people are, i hope ur sister pay attention to ur nephew. Singers should take their pay cut and buy clothes at a yard sale or good will then take that money and blow on drugs, beer, and casinos and clean up every day. I hope drummers read this thread get the hint...

Drum cut is not all that.......LOL!!!.....surprises me that anyone thinks that a little bitty drum cut can support anyone.....LOL!!!.....First of all, you got to think of gas (especially nowadays where it's past 4 bucks a gallon) you got to pitch in, and then pitch on maintenace on the vehicle, whether or not you're getting a room (got to pitch in for that as well) then you're food you're going to be eating for the week, then you got to put some aside in case you dont place the next weekend or powwow........I'm not standing up for the raunchy dudes here, but come on now, be realistic, a drum cut will not do a lot for you...........unless, they make it equal to a dancers payout.......

OK ... fashion show aside .... what happened to pride in one's appearance? respect for their bodies to keep it clean ... at least. a bar of soap and some deodorant dont cost that much. and no covering up two days of stink with half a bottle of AXE dont cut it either LOL

and besides ... what self respecting drum wife would let her man show up all stank and dirty?!? LOL ... and we all know the ones dressed to the nines are jus out to snag anywayz jks.

Thats true about how ones pride for appearance...lol...there are alot that go around stank and whatever then there are the clean cut ones...lol...and I think AXE makes alot of money of them ones who jus cover it up...lmao...I know a few too many like that...haha...

I see what ur saying about the drum wifes..I dont want my man wearing anything twice in the same weekend and he has to shower no matter what...lmao...and hes gotta be pimped out too...lmao...but thats a good one..usually the ones all dressed up and stuff are trynna snag or sumthing!!!!...haha

I'll tell ya what though if it wasn't for Singers there would be no Powwow....I Powwow too.....Its not my experience to see Singers looking "Scrubby" or whatever....Sure there might be an occasional glich in the Matrix, but this is sheer overkill.....

we all know thats NEVER going to happen ... LOL ... equal drum cuts for singers as for the dancers

but .... around here ... first in drum ranges anywhere from $3000 - $10000 ... ten guys that means everyone gets $300 - $1000 each. even if lead singer take some out for gas n room(s) ... could walk away with $700 each. but more than likely around the $400 or $500 mark on average wknd .... and a lil of that cant be used to keep themselves?

that's going to ruffle some feathers!!! I don't really think it matters....I mean, someone is going to always be around that's scabby. That's just human nature. Some people could care less about how they look to others. But 50's stickin up for the mess guys and he's got a job AND he smells goot. :) Well...I'm assuming he smells goot. :P

It is kind of a crazy thread b/c you could just make one that says....FYI, if you go to a pow wow...WASH UR BACKSIDE no matter if you're a singer, dancer or spectator...we don't want to smell it!!!

This is a little off topic BUT, about 4years ago I was a powwow and the drum was hoppin' until. . . I saw one of the girls that had been jingling walk over to the drum hike up her jingle skirt and sit down right behind one of the singers, legs hanging out everywhere. Unfortunately, I am not one to tell other people what to do, but the fact that the people around her let that happen (she sat there for a good 20mins) made the drum look "Scrubby" to me.
