All I got to say is when I was traveling the Red Road that most drum groups were lookin and smellin good. You know Stoney Creek, Southern Suns, and the ones from down home were all at their best at least most of the time. They took pride in what they do.
I do understand hard times, but at Wal-mart they sell baby wipes and you can even get Acts body spray and even toilet paper, bic razors and even toilet seat covers all for a $1.00. So if someone really cares about their higene there is away to be clean and look respectful especially around the drum.
Also, if some girls are judging the drum contest it might just help you guys if are looking and smelling your best especially if I might be judging

This is a little off topic BUT, about 4years ago I was a powwow and the drum was hoppin' until. . . I saw one of the girls that had been jingling walk over to the drum hike up her jingle skirt and sit down right behind one of the singers, legs hanging out everywhere. Unfortunately, I am not one to tell other people what to do
, but the fact that the people around her let that happen (she sat there for a good 20mins) made the drum look "Scrubby" to me.

To many singers I see like that. for instance the "ol'skoolers"..ya know the ones...the ones who wear a cowoby shirt on a hot day, looking like a mexican (no offence) with there shirt unbuttoned, when they have no business unbuttoning there shirt, The tank toppers, better yet the ones who wear shirts with cut off sleeves that they prolly been sporting since the 80's with a pair of JACK TRIPPER shorts..lol at night they still have the shirt but throw a change up with a pair of tight sweats.
or the ones who DO try to look good but only brought clothes enough for friday and staurday...so they switch it up on sunday with their friday shirt and sat. pants..or vice versa.Leave a comment:

Its about respect. You should dress nice or your nicest.
If all you own is t-shirts and shorts, THAT is your nicest.
If you are camping and there are no facilities, your hair may be messy and you may be unshaven, THAT is your nicest.
If you have a hotel room but chose to party till 6am and show up unshaven with messy hair......shame on you.
What does HEAT have to do with it? Dancers are dancing out there, fully clothed, in the sun MORE than you are actually singing.Leave a comment:

LOL--you guys are funny. I've seen alot of the ones that look like they need a bath or something.
There's one by me that the camp grounds actually have a shower house, it used to cost money--but they took the coin machines out. And there was still a drum there where the guys looked all scubby and stuff. There were like 6 drums there and I knew 4 of them and then the one drum not only were they dirty and stinky, but some of the other drums were complaining about the smell of alcohol coming from them really strong. And there was no excuse for them not to have had a "FREE" shower there.LOLLeave a comment:
