Morely was quite an adventure. Late Saturday afternoon it went from rain to hail back to rain. It really hit right before Grand Entry so there were a few who either didn't make it or were late. By 9:00pm. at the end of the arena where we were there must have been water to about 12-14 feet inside, thank goodness for the astro turf or there would have been quite a lake. Woke up to snow Sun. we were told about 10:00 that they had cancelled so we left.

Here are the fragments of what I remember.

Dry Lake took the original style singing contest.

Womens Jingle - 1. Kristi Y., took first with Leah Syrette and Elenie Goodwill getting in.

Mens Grass went 1, Terrence Goodwill, 2. AJ Redman, 3. Ron McNabb, 4. Jeff Downing, 5. Stuart Morin

Mens Fancy went to 1. Kenny Pratt, JR, with Laz Roan, Amos Yazzie, and Craig First Rider getting in.

Teen Boys Grass 1. Jordan Redman with Steven Redman, Trey Little Sky and Elijiah Provost getting in.

        Pretty spotty I know.

Things were wrapped up and we were on the road by 930 pm. Home by 130 am. That was awesome.

        Good times!

Of course they went on Sunday. It was a full house!

The people you saw pulling out were probably just going to grab a shower and some Tim's!!!!

They were packing up their campers and were leaving as we did unfortunately. Because they got the same information we did. You don't happen to know who paced in the Golden Age Women? Oh well there is always next year.

Chazzif, you should be a critic for powwows. I agree totally with your assessment of the Northern singing catagory at the Labour Day Classic powwow in Morley. You are so right, we messed up and were fortunate to have placed 3rd. We tryed to sing a song for fancy that is not mean't for fancy, but rather for a slower type of dance catagory. Oh well it was fun and we had a good laugh about it afterwards. Wildhorse messed up with a double lead, however our mistake was more blatant! Truly, at this powwow, Whitefish Jrs. were flawless and sounded more powerful than at any powwow I had previously heard them at over the summer. Oh well, can't win them all and that is truly the beauty of powwow competition singing, from one weekend to the next, drumgroups sound better than each other at various venues. Thank you for your critique. You hit the nail right on the head!
I should add that this was a very well run, organized powwow. Good visiting, good laughs, great singing (host drums were awesome), and awesome dancing. The announcers were great with there knowledge of powwow and humor. (Ruben Littlehead and Howie Thompson) Our hats should be off to the 2 main organizers, Mr. Eli Snow and his sis Chrissy. Job well done! From our drum to you, thank you so much for the hospitality you offered us and for the great weekend we had. Definitly support powwows that you 2 organize. Thank You (HAI HAI)
Oh yea, "CONGRAT'S TO ALL THE WINNERS"!

I was wondering if anyone went to the Dartmouth powwow this weekend? I hope it was inside. I remember they use to have dance contests there. I know it's early but if they did have a contest, can someone please post the results. Thanx and for all the Moms out there have a Happy Mother's Day!!!
