Drainage is key if you are in Canada. If you have proper drainage your grounds won't end up being a muskeg if things are wet. Chinki Lake's arbor next to the freeway was in a low spot and a few years ago it rained and rained and rained and we ended up dancing on worms and in puddles. Blech.

Alexis in Alberta has a nice uncovered log arbor.

Ermineskin has a huge uncovered arbor with excellent drainage:

Enoch has a cool covered arbor and I know that Sarci and Muskeg Lake do too.

Standing Buffalo has a large rectangular metal roof structure similiar to the one at Arlee.

Here is Arlee's, it is the big building.

This is probably one of the best ones I've been to. There is a drain, and it slopes down in the center just a little. This one is in Hinckley, MN.

                Mr Oakley was here

i really like enoch, alberta's arbor ... totally covered ... all thats needed in that one is ... better lighting .... stays cool under there in summer and there is always a nice breeze too

ill try find some pix of onion lake, saskatchewan arbor ... its uncovered right in the center (its a relatively small opening but turns the center of the dance area into a big mud puddle)

i really hate those un-covered arbors ... so hot ... hard to watch ... LOL

                          Kamloops British Columbia

has a real nice arbor. Pretty penny to build it.....Paul Band and Alexis in AB are good ones.....Some more...

                          Hinckley MN
                          Sycuan CA

As folks have recommended....Water Drainage is a key! No doubt! Sounds like your in ON so spraying for bugs a week or so before is a good idea. Matter of fact several places should heed that advice before a powwow.

anyone remember Harrison Hot Springs Powwow....in BC '95' or '96'? Well they had a parachute over the arbor and it closed up during a song....LOL! So be real careful with parachutes.....

Good luck Otanabe.....Otanabe singers were a dam good group years back.....

Oh I got an ear full about the "infamous Parachute" of Indian Hills one night
                              LOL

When I was looking around at pictures I was saddened how far down Indian Hills has sunk :(

Dang we could have some nice stuff around here

We tried to gather some funds to build an arbor at Chieftain and only got stares
