Band of Mission Indians to host December powwow



COACHELLA -- The Twentynine Palms Band of Mission Indians hosts its 11th Annual Winter Gathering and powwow next month.

The Dec. 7-9 event celebrates Native American life and culture with dance, music, arts and crafts.

The powwow will be held at Spotlight 29 Casino, 46-200 Harrison St.

The event is free, thought donations are accepted for the Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation.

There is no Northern Host Drum. There is a contest for both Northern & Southern Drums. Each category has 4 places; 1st-$4000 plus jackets, 2nd-$3000, 3rd-$2000, and 4th-$1000. Grand Entry Time on Friday is 6pm....I mention it because I know it was a problem for dancers last year. Don't know why it is so early, but that's what it is. Saturday GE times are 1pm & 6pm and Sunday it's at 1pm. Hope this information helps
