  • Roach question...

My question..."HOW DOES ONE STRAIGHTEN OUT A WAVE IN PORCUPINE HAIR ON A ROACH??"

I'm uh, in the middle of a snowy road looking outside, yearning for a GOOOOOD pow wow to roll up pretty soon. After I sew me and my 2boys some new outfits and straighten out this hair. I want it to look good again.

    Hello raised_eagle_fan,
I heard from a northern trad dancer that he fixed on the inside of the row with clue the porcupine hair and hold it in his hand while forming and let dry.
It`s a pretty roach and seems like a good idea.
    With respect
    Tom

      roach problem
      by mexicadancer1
I have a small problem, I think I wrapped my roach around my roach stick wrong, because now all the hair on my roach is bent and messed up. Does anybody here know what I should do? Sombody told me that I should soak my roach then shape the hair before it dries. Do you think this would work?...

How to Sew a Porky Roach with Nice Spread
      by NativeBoy'sMom
What is the technique to get a good spread on a porky roach so that I don't have to use a roach spreader to flatten it?

I've read in several old threads that a spreader shouldn't be used to spread the porky hair because it will break the hair eventually. The same posts said that if the...

      Hair Roach Spreader

“A ‘roach spreader’ is usually worn with the (hair roach) headdress. They are sometimes beautifully carved and decorated, and are made of bone or silver”...“It is inserted inside the long fringes of the headdress, spreading them outward in some cases; hence the name ‘spreader’.”

      New Place, New Powwow

      Aho!
So, I have just moved to Indiana from Texas for college. Unfortunately that means my powwow is back home, and as it happens during the school year, I can’t go. I was hoping someone had recommendations for Powwows near East Indiana that I could go to. Unfortunately I’m apparently the only...
