  • Crow Fair 2009?

    Hello Folks,

Never been to Crow Fair and always wanted to.

The powwow info is not - It seems - displayed on the powwow calendar.

I have been to the Crow Nation - Crow Fair webpage.
However, there is no email address for the committee . As they did last year. Which is a shame as not everyone can afford to call long distance or able to fax.

Would have needed furher information. None of those that were displayed on the webpage.

    can anyone help?

    Thanks
    Inila ye! Imaputakaye!!

Hey there Wyo Rose, how are you? Have not been on the forum for a long long time. But it is nice to see you there :o)

Yeah I got the dates from the Crow Nation Website. I was told by some peeps that we could hire a tipi. Saving taking ours. We have an RV, which at my grand age, I prefer using, but the kids want to stay in the tipi.If we decide to go, I would prefer arranging all this before hand. Who do we contact for this? I think I might just give the Crow nation Office a call...Money is an issue here...

I don't think the Crow Nation rents tipis. It's mostly families putting up their own. Your peeps probably have it mixed up with OUR powwow here - Eastern Shoshone Indian Days - where visitors can reserve a limited number of tipis.

There's not much room to park an RV at the grounds at Crow. They might let you park at the rodeo grounds a hop, skip and jump away. Or there's a campground across the freeway or in Hardin about 10 miles away.

If you take your own tipi, it's a little tricky finding a spot to put it up as well. You don't want to "over" on anybody's camping spot. And the open areas might be used for other things - like dances. Once we had to move, but we just didn't know we were in a spot where they have dances in several places around the grounds. It's good if you know somebody that camps and can tell you what's what. I'm sure there's committe people there that can direct you.

There are a few RV Parks in the "area" most within 12-20 miles of Crow. There's on in Crow but I can't find the contact info for it. There's was a tourism group created through the college that should be able to help you in regards to finding a place for your RV or renting Tipis. Listed below is what i was able to find:
              Crow Tribe Tourism Contact:
LBHC Apsaalooke Tours 1 Forestry Lane, Box 370 Crow Agency, MT 59022
              406-638-3139

              Grandview Campground & Storage
              (406) 665-2489
1002 N Mitchell Ave, Hardin, MT (12 miles from Crow)

              Koa Kampgrounds
              (406) 665-1635
State Highway 47 N, Hardin, MT

              7th Ranch Rv Camp
Address: I-90 Exit 514 S Reno Creek Rd, Garryowen, MT 59031
              Phone: (406) 638-2438

The ones in Hardin have "facilities" the one in Garryowen advertises WiFi....kinda cool! hahaha! Hope this helps

                Renting Tipis

Last year they were saying that you could rent one of those tipis over near the multipurpose building. You can see them from the highway. But I dunno of any for rent at the pow-wow grounds themselves.
