I am interested in, but highly ignorant to how the word princess and how it applies in the context of a powwow. Can anyone enlighten me?

and as for the whole princess thing ... the pow wow committee usually either holds a competition or appoints a young woman from their community to represent the pow wow and the community at other pow wows and events for usually one year.Watch your broken dreams...
