On Saturday, June 20, 2009, the public is welcome to join the Mattaponi Indians at their 14th annual powwow, Virginia's only powwow on an Indian reservation.
*Held on the*Mattaponi Indian Reservation*(established 1658) overlooking the beautiful Mattaponi River in King William County, the powwow features American Indian dancing, drumming, food, arts and crafts.
* Grounds open at 10 AM and the powwow closes at 5 PM.* Grand entry is*at 12 noon.
* Admission is $5.00; free for children*6 years and under. This is a family event; no drugs or alcohol allowed, and no pets please. Bring your lawn chairs and the entire family and plan to spend the day. (Rain date June 21, 11 AM - 6 PM, with grand entry at 1 PM.)
