This was outside Tampa, Florida. I didn't dance, but I wanted to. I would like to dance at the next one, which will be in March.

10 bucks says the praying white lady is from Ohio, they have the BEST powwows there you know.

Oh, and I bet her name is "Enchanted Rainbow Spirit Hawk Goddess."

Just ask her, she'll tell you. And for $600, she take you to the swamp and introduce you to your spirit guide. But you'll need to also buy the $50 vision crystal to go with it. And the cd of flute music for $19.99.

OK.... Seminole Hardrock has an awesome powwow with REAL (take that anyway you want) AWESOME dancers. Some of the best.... I would wait for that pw before you get any ideas about how to dance....Unless.... you are a "wannabe"... then you fit right in with some of the ppl at the pw you went too!

Sorry... I call them like I see them!

Undoubtedly, Chicken (Prairie) Dancing is becoming more popular coast-to-coast.

I have seen Navaho, Comanche and Lumbee chicken dancers.

Anybody wanna' venture out and explain this dance? Perhaps the who (tribe/s), what, where, whys and how?

Gourd Dance is NOT a veteran's dance
                                by WhoMe
Recently at a powwow in Oklahoma City, a well known Kiowa elder told the gourd dancers, "The gourd dance is not a veteran's dance, it is Tiah Piah - an ancient dance of the Kiowa."

During the 2005 National Powwow in Washington DC, the origins of powwow dancing were explained...
