Sorry, I did not make it clear that this is perfomed by Native Indians.
Off cours, a Pow Wow done by white man dressed up with feather have nothing to do with your traditional dance.

Here is a translated version of a page I found where you can see photos from the Pow Wow:

    and a 2nd. page:

And this one is made by the association behind this Pow Wow:
    Four Winds
None of these sites are made by me.

Off course, I understand the ones doing Pow Wows also have to live, and in order to to so today, we need money. It would be hard to live today by hunting Bison

I payed in order to see this Pow Wow, but I find that normal, as the association has to buy for the travel and hotel for the Native Indians performing the dance. I believe they all came from the States.

      Comment ce va Mssr Goggen?

A Native friend of mine says Europeans were very friendly to him, and the largest Round Dance he ever saw was on a farm in Germany. This included spectators who were very enthusiastic.

Only negative I've heard is some europeans wearing First Nations clothing that is very accurately copied. Remember that some designs belong to Native families or societies, these designs are "given" to the next generation, can't be sold or copied.

      Bon temps,

Wow, I recognized TJ in those pictures. I didn't know he traveled all the way to Europe for Pow-Wows.

            5) Repeat the process for Url-2.

I do agree. One thing is to copy a clothing, but with no understanding of the designs.
The white man may have a tendency to just look at the clothing externaly, and does not consider the spiritual side of it.
I wanted to say that I don't see anything bad in children Indian and cowboy, running around with a feather in the hear, but the second, I felt bad. Even in this situation the roles are often upside down. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about...

              Merci a toi!!!!

Taking a look at those pics, I noticed that Dennis Yellow Thunder was decked out in Hollywood Indian garb. Lee Lost Flowers was proudly holding her turkey fan. The other dancers seemed authentic enough for any powwow in the states.

It will take some time for info on the German powwow, my Tongva friend does not have a computer, nor cellphone - on purpose. If I drive to his house, I will get info, then maybe links.

Children playing cowboys and indians? I haven't seen that in many years, video games and computers keep children indoors, sometimes good to avoid street gangs and violence. They get fat!

If they watch too much Hollywood movies, or TV shows, they imitate the mistakes and myths.

It is our job to show them the reality, no?

                        Gog,

Thank you for sharing these websites. I have been to powwows in Europe. This is the first one that I have seen where most of the dancers were indigenous from the United States. I recognized Bob and Greg Red Elk, Herman Begay and Allen Roy Paquin. I think the drum was Indian Creek? All are good powwow people living in the American Southwest!!!!

Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.

I'm 80% sure I'm Ojibwa, but still not 100% sure.

No, I don't thinks the the job of the Indians to show the reality of the history, but I'm afraid my "tribe", the white man, is to prove to do so. There are lucky enough some exceptions.

Who went to Regina Urban Pow Wow this past weekend?

I went and was witness to the most crappiest Grand Entry done by the most uncapable Arena Director, Roy Bison. I seen this guy before, he said once that he was a Northern Cheyenne, but at this pow wow up in Regina, he was Lakota!...

O'Siyo. I am a newbie to this posting on pow wow.com. I have a couple of questions, if I may ask.

One is this. When I dance, I do not dance in regalia like I see at pow wows, or like any of the dancers I see. I dance mostly in a trance like state or I Totem dance. Is there a "name"...
