Meers,OK-SING TO MOUNTAINS Pow Wow?

While searching for OK Pow Wow's, I saw one in Meers, OK, called SING/SINGING TO THE MOUNTAINS. Does anyone have info., schedule, directions, concerning this Pow Wow? DATE: June 26, 2010.

Meers, OK, is famous for their Resturant, a must stop, but long wait on the weekends; home made food, deep history, anyhow I will stop, Meers is not a big place, pop is only about 50 inhabitants; it mentioned something about a "Park area", but I don't know much more.

Has anyone ever gone to this Pow Wow? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you kindly, God Bless.

Saturday & Sunday: 6:30am Sunrise ceremony, followed by free time until 1pm 1pm to 6pm Drums and Dancers 7pm to 11pm Live Bands Drums Include: Broken Walls (Canada), Jimmy Reader All Nations Drum (Oklahoma), Gray Bear Drum (Washington), Sacred Thunder (Florida), more TBA Bands Include: Michael Jacobs, Cheryl Bear, Rainsong, Broken Walls, Jerry Chapman (Drum Speaker to the Nations), more TBA Arts & Crafts Village: There will be vendors featuring First Nations arts and crafts from across North America. Thank you for all the great info you shared; we are planning to attend; there is also a Lavendar Festival, on the West side of Meers, south of Anadarko-so it will be a fun filled day for us.

Went to Website, not a FREE Pow WOW

I did not know, and thank you for sharing the website, so much appreciated, we would have been so dissappointed, to go, and not be able to attend due the cost of $40 for hubby and I to attend. I think it is more of a Music Festival, and honoring the Lord, seems the group and other singers would be fantastic to hear and watch. Only Dance and Drummers is from 1-6pm, then special singers takes over until 11 pm.,

We were just going on Sat, but being seniors on SS, money is tight and tightly budgeted, lol. It is the FIRST 1ST year for this Music Festival, and I think it would be worth attending, but the Lavendar Festival not far from this, also costs money to get in.....LOL

Thought I would share info in case others are considering attending, and thank you kindly for sharing the website, Hugs

I'm going do a little of my own 'singing to the mountains' while 'honoring the Lord' at Taos Powwow in a couple of weeks!

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth. Serve Him with gladness. Come into his presence singing!" Psalms 100.

I think Indians have always done this. . .

This venture is geared towards Native Christians who partake in what is called contectual ministry, which incorporates some Christian Hymnals with the use of the drum...and every once in awhile they'll sing a prayer song. As far as a actual Powwow, it's not, it's just what it is..more of Praise and Worship which is a Blessed time to spend with the Lord, Hallelujah!!!

Now if you want to go to a actual Powwow with all the singing and dancing, that particular weekend, there's the Iowa Tribal Powwow in Perkins, Oklahoma, there's information on the Powwowsok.com website.

And I think theres one in Apache, OK too...

Thanks for the information, which I too gathered from a kind person sending me the website. It looks just as you stated Praise and Worship to our Wonderful Lord and Savior, which would more than bless any believers spirit and heart.

It is that just for one day, Sat, and it would cost us $40 to attend, and money is more than tight, since we are on SS, limited income, that is the only problem that we would have with attending. Since this is their first year, I can "budget" a few months before next years gathering, and then we could go.

The list of singers, looks to be very impressive, and I am sure anyone who is able to attend, will receive a rich, full blessing for the day. I hope that it will not be as hot as they are predicting...this heat even makes it hard for us to do the necessary acreage work....already looking forward to Aug, LOL.
