I got this in an email today. Thought I'd post it for everyone to read over (even though it only talks about Oklahoma.) I know one powwow that has made banners to hang up this weekend telling sex offenders to register before being on the grounds. Then they will be given an orange sticker to wear on their shirt. I hate that its come to this because it feels like no where is safe anymore. We have always given the kids more space at any pw we have gone here close to home and it's nice for us as parents to allow that freedom but also for the kids to not feel like they are being hovered over. Sigh....

Subj #2- Runner, Christine R
W/F DOB 07/08/1964
Hgt. 5ft 2 in Wgt 235lbs Bro/Blu
Currently incarcerated in Orange County Florida for lewd or indecent proposals/act to child.

Please be aware that the above listed subjects have a long history of lewd or indecent acts to children.
Spoonemore and Runner have a history of setting up face painting booths at Tribal activities such as
Pow Wows. Runner would paint the children’s faces while Spoonemore would take photographs of
them. Spoonemore would then use the pictures for sexual gratification later.
Runner is currently incarcerated in Orange County Florida but is to return to Oklahoma at an unknown
date. There are charges pending here in Oklahoma.
Spoonemore, however is still attempting to gain access to Tribal gatherings with his face painting booth.
He recently attempted to set up a booth at the Iowa Nations’ Pow Wow, but was denied.
Spoonemore and Runner are both registered sex offenders.

Wow, that is scary!! Of course, just looking at our county's registered sex offender website is scary enough. There's so many Native American guys on there and you can recognize a lot of them from the community.

This is a sad reality. Law officers have a duty to protect and serve, and this is a very toxic subject to deal with.

Most schools, sports leagues, even churches require background checks with fingerprints before people are allowed to work with or around kids. Think about it, the perverts will look for any activity involving kids where no checks are done. This is a sickness of the mind, they are driven by their obsession.

At one of our rural highways checkpoints we had one of these guys come through in his van. The inside doorlocks had been disabled, as if to keep somebody trapped inside. He was alone at the time.

We ran every record system we could, to see if he had active warrants, then notified local authorities, etc. He had children's underwear inside his van, and a handmade sign saying he gave free guitar lessons. He admitted he was homeless, living out of his van. We had to release him, but put the locals on alert that he was entering the metro area. He was seen in one of the beach areas two days later. I never heard further reports.

It is a sad dreary matter, and some investigators have to be pulled out by their superiors and get assigned to other cases.

Be on your guard, it is not always drifters or strangers.

Got to agree. In general I think these offenders should be punished worse then all others.

I'll buy the bullets.

There are a number of them in our area too. The state has a website, and we check it from time to time so that we know where they are and what they look like.

I was just reading a news article online this morning and in the next city over from us, where there are a lot of known sex offenders, a 16-year-old boy was arrested for rape of a 5 year old child (and related charges)! The little girl's parents had been letting him stay with them and he didn't abduct her----he raped and killed her right in her own home. The ambulance call was for a 5-year-old girl unconscious and not breathing. This wasn't even an adult, known sex offender!
