  • Denver March and The Gathering

I see that the first 2 major powwows have been postponed/cancelled because of the fear of spreading Covid 19 / Corona virus.
Do you think this was wise or is everyone in a panic ?
I believe blood quantums are the governments way to breed us out of existance !

They say blood is thicker than water ! Now maple syrup is thicker than blood , so are pancakes more important than family ?

There are "Elders" and there are "Olders". Being the second one doesn't make the first one true !

Somebody is out there somewhere, thinking of you and the impact you made in their life.
    It's not me....I think you're an idiot !

I think it is probably wise. While the numbers are low right now, restricting movement and avoiding crowds is going to be a help in reducing the rate of spread.

Information is Beautiful -- Covid-19 infographics

This is serious for older people and folks with hypertension and diabetes. (The death rate for the 2017-2018 flu for folks 65+ was ca. 0.9%.) They are at higher risk on needing hospitalized. If too many people get sick at once, the health care system could become overwhelmed. No beds, no care. These conditions occur at higher rates in Native communities. And many of these communities already have reduced access to health care.

Hey, it's more than wise. In Germany some people are still too carless about it, too afraid to confront the danger, so playing it down and act as usual. At least in my city. The best way to avoid any close contact. Best to stay at home if you can and have enough food for at least 2 weeks. But don't panic. They say it's more dangerous for people over 60.

Over here they'll close everything except for food stores and medication places. In Italy there are nearly 30.000 official cases registered. In Germany around 8.000. But our countries are not as big as the US more like bit bigger than US states. Even though most cases are supposed to be rather mild, there are too many death and they want to slow down the spread, so not all at once go to hospitals, they'd be overwhelmed if all come at once. The virus is spreading fast and who want to even have a full out flu? They say to keep at least two meter distance from others. Infectious drops could get into your face when speaking or coughing or sneezing. Everyone could be a potential spreader even if they don't show symptoms. But please don't panic. I am not in panic. But don't get too close to others and avoid kissing. I hope, I could help with a bit information.

Very good information. Well said. My church is setting up live streaming for our service. We are getting help to do this. A sister Southern Baptist church has been doing this and they will help. We also have a member who is in communications that works with the sound system and video and microphones. We have some funds in our benevolent fund to help others, but may have to currently direct it to helping our brethren and sisters since this may be a huge need for people out of work. In normal conditions we spend most of our time helping nonmembers.

Please take it serious avoid personal contact to other people as much as possible. Especially those with pre-health conditions like lung deseases, diabetes, heart problems. Weeks of all out curfews are planned for example in Berlin if people won't stop gathering in small groups or large groups outside or inside. To protect elderly people, kids are not to visit them or even minded by grandparents, they can spread the desease to the elderly, most vulnerable.

The good news, the chinese city and area where the outbreak began has not reported any new cases since today. But they had an allout curfew lasting a few weeks.

We have had a powwow cancelled in Idaho, a salmon feast cancelled in Oregon, all the NDN casinos are closed. Don't need to be having the disease spreading to everyone.

This thing has not been nearly as bad yet as the yearly mortality of the influenza virus.

They canceled the St. George (Georgia) Cherokee Gathering this year, too. That was supposed to be held a couple of weeks ago.

Recently the news has been covering the fighting in Fallujah and if you haven't heard a Marine was taken off the battlefield for shooting a civilian, supposedly was already dead. News reporters shot it and now there's the contraversy about rules of engagement. I wanted to bring light to this issue,...
