I can agree with the Northern Style contest winners except for the ommission of Blackfoot Confederacy....I thought they should have placed....I would have bumped out Iron Boy for Blackfoot Confederacy...but the rest totally kicked it....War Scout: KICKED it into gear!!!!What an up and coming drum they are... I was recording all weekend long so I was right there...nothing against Iron Boy...they did sound good but Blackfoot Confederacy was better but in the end its what the judges think.

On a side note...I want to Congratulate Violet John of Kehewin Cree Nation....good stuff on winning Miss Indian World!!!

I don't want to ruffle any feathers but I have a question regarding the Miss Indian World tribal talent contest which was held on Thursday night. All the contestants did a wonderful job of showcasing their own Tribe's culture. The new Miss Indian World did a Hoop Dance. Is this dance a part of her tribe's culture. I'm not for sure but I thought this originated in the Southwest. Can anyone enlighten me? Did the Plains Cree Tribe do this dance back in the early days or is there any history of this written anywhere? I'm pretty sure the Taino didn't do this dance around Puerto Rico.

Yes I remember the hoop dance when I was a kid....it may not have ORIGINATED from the Cree but alot of dances and ceremonies have been brought to other tribes...and she won it straight up..you should just be saying CONGRATS...be happy for Violet John....Miss Indian World 2006/07!!

Sure you did or you wouldn't have mentioned it at all. She's the winner and its time to say congrats.
