Congrats to all the dance winners and to Miss Indian World. Heard there was something going on with the MIW contest, people quiting because of what was going on.

And as for this comment: "it may not have ORIGINATED from the Cree but alot of dances and ceremonies have been brought to other tribes", I thought the point of the Tribal Contest was to showcase "YOUR OWN TRIBE'S CULTURE", not someone else's!!! I attended the talent contest and also was wondering what was going on.

Yes I remember the hoop dance when I was a kid....it may not have ORIGINATED from the Cree but alot of dances and ceremonies have been brought to other tribes...and she won it straight up..you should just be saying CONGRATS...be happy for Violet John....Miss Indian World 2006/07!!

Hey I thought WE'RE supposed be one people??? When I last danced (9 years ago) I always accepted advice form a woman from the Sisseton-Wahpeton SIOUX Tribe, and especially from another woman from Red Lake...Our ways are all shared, or so I thought. (But that's just my 2 cents...)
