Sit back and enjoy the other dancers, listen to the drums and visit booths. And of course, fill my face with food *grins*

For the past four years I sit at my booth and watch as the rest dance, I now only do requests when it comes to dancing. My spinal accident won't allow me to dance the way I used to, so it is rare now for me to dance.

My pleasure comes from the social part when they gather at my booth and yes eat fry bread and buff burgers. Don't forget the strawberry lemonaide!!!!

I am starting on my crafts already for next august for my local powwow!

This year I over did the powwow scene and my back is paying for it.

So now it is lots of movies and relaxation as much as possible!

              Visit, visit, visit!

It is fun to catch up on peoples lives. Some times you hear some first hand gossip - too boot!

Last weekend at a local powwow, I got some quality time to visit with a champion men's traditional dancer from Saskatchwan, a shawl dancer from New Mexico and lot's of peeps who weren't dressed either.

I wouldn't have gotten to do this if I was in the arena dancing.

Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.

Visit with friends; look at the booths; get something to eat; watch from my chair at the jamming dancers.

I cross the table but not the border as of yet!
I spent the last ten years making all kinds of crafts, carving is my pride, soapstone pipes with animal heads, drums with and without fur on them, bone carvings, antler carvings, walking staffs, dream catchers of all kinds including animal jaw bone frames. Bead work as well considering that my inventory is growing faster than I can use them.
Ask it and I probably have made it!

I just spent $500.- today wholesale from Venice for old glass beads from 1850, the ones that were used by the six nations on the crafts they made for the tourists in those days.

Oh and last night I finished a dream catcher with moose hair tufting !

Socman in a different thread mentioned something about the "biggest powwow." It got me to thinking, does size matter when you go to a powwow? Do you prefer to go to small dances? medium sized? large? Super size my powwow?

Recently, my family and I attended a powwow here in Rapid City, and just about went BROKE! Even the admission alone put us back over $100.00 for the weekend. Even my four year old, who slept most of the evening sessions, had to pay $9.75 for the weekend.

                                The concession stand in the...

                                Do you own a tipi?

If so, come on up, or down, or over, to the Anderson Indiana Powwow Tipi Camp on September 6, 7 and 8, 2013.

They're looking for tipis and are willing to pay $50 gas money for the first 20 tipis there.

They're also having a tipi competition...

A LOT of people record audio and/or video at powwows; perhaps mostly for personal use, but we really don't know in all cases where each video is going or if it may appear for sale somewhere. There are some recorders are very obviously commercial; they bought huge $2500 high resolution video cameras...
