It's simple...feed everyone in attendance. They should have allowed the old people to go first (out of respect) followed by the singers (so you can start the dance again after the break) and then the dancers and then everyone else there. It bugs me to see committees either doing away with feeds altogether or only feeding the singers and dancers.

You should feed everyone there because you never know if that might be the only time some people eat that day (especially kids). Just the way I was taught and the way I've done when on committees.
I think everyone on this rez is addicted to Harry Potter...lol...

It's better to feed everyone a small portion then selective feed some people and let the others watch or worse go without that day. Our ancestors took care of everyone no matter what little they had.

The more you have, the more you waste. The less you have the more you appriciate what is given to you.

Does what I say make any sense?

What I have seen that works is:

The elder or person that prays for the dinner goes first.

Then the host drums or center drum

        Then head staff

        Then singers and dancers

        Then everyone

All the while the princesses and young people in the committee are taking plates to the elders.

        ___

        Pheji,

That is one strange powwow you went to!

                      last year this happened...

the pow-wow had a good feed of turkey ,dressing.and green beans..but what was leftover sat eve..they made plates up and rapped them with clear wrap and placed them in boxes with no ice left the stuff out overnite...tryed to feed to the drums next day..we were all hungry sun and they bring these plates of spoiled food..we have not been back too their gathering either..we had both lead singers getting sick throwing up after taking bites..then we found out the food was left out..
