Shemitzun 2009????

so what do you think? is Schemitzun going to happen or what?? i have spoken with some folks who say Schemitzun is no longer going to happen. i have spoken with some people who have been vendors there in the past and heard the event will happen.

if you can tell the committee what should happen and the like, what would you say? any improvements you can think of?

Yup, I was there too. They announced it was gonna be scaled back and held next year at the Pequot Museum. I have only been to that museum once, I can't remember if the grounds surrounding it are very large, I have a feeling they are not.

i remember the parking lot is big at the museum but the actual grounds immmediatly around the museum building is not all that big.

Wonder if they are doing away with the juried art show ? They didn't tell us what they had planned for that .

Schemitzun has been a good powwow in the past ! I hope the committee can pull something out of their hat. I don't know if it's funding as to why they are going to be cutting back or what the case is. But if it does get cut back, I don't see alot of people traveling all that way to part take in this event. the Big Prize $$$$$ is why people go to this powwow. If they drop down to just a reg lil powwow. i dont see alot of dancers coming way out this way !

A good ole time.....Da 90's were off da charts. If we see those Schemitzun days again that would be cho.....Whole lot of planning, cash, and moccasin telegraph made Schemitzun what it was....Thanks to the people who made it possible...Wayne Reels was the catalyst.

i did a small social/pow wow last weekend in Enfield, CT. talked with one of the hosts of the pow wow. she was in coversation with the pow wow committee chair person and it is on for August. but there was no publication as to when it was going to happen.

when Wayne Reels was in charge of the pow wow, it was the best time for all folks. from what i heard from a couple of people, one who works at the Museum, Wayne essentially became an unperson.
