suggestion on a perfect place for a Pow-wow

This is just my personal opinion on where to have the next Pow-wow at and I dont even know where to post this at but here goes anyway I think YellowSprings Ohio at Annioch College Campus Grounds not sure if that is spelled correctly or not would be the perfect setting right in front of the college theres some acres that would be perfect for a Pow-wow I dont think one was ever done there during the fall season Would be the perfect timing I know alot of people on here may not want to travle that far if they live far away but just an idea to think about thats all?I never mentioned it because I forgot to or havent been here for sometime to mention this idea

There are a zillion beautiful places to hold a gathering all over this continent but not all native communities are pow wow people, have a large enough population to take on a pow wow or should try to put on a pow wow just because of the scenery.

No worries, this is a forum for discussion. No harm in trying! I looked on Google maps satellite view and the area near the college looks GREEN with lots of trees.

LOOKS nice....but now you have logistics of a powwow to work out. Keep reading here to see what all go into a public powwow on a college campus, or next to a college.

I read up on Antioch and it seems they went through some hard times.

No nothing to be sorry about. Yaahi is right, it takes a lot of planning and logistics and advertising and spreading the word out to others plus the fact that capital needs to be up front and available to even pull it off. You have to plan for food, transportation, resting quarters, washrooms, security, and in some cases obtaining permits to hold a large gathering of people.

Its not easy as it sounds, but keep looking. I would rather have people make suggestions or tell about possible locations and you just never know, one of them can be a GOLD MINE!!!!!

Don't worry, plenty of twinkies to go around. Listen to Tekno, he knows what he is talking about.

I know I became a member a few years ago and soon I became SO sick of the smart *** comments from the same few people who THINK they know every thing about EVERY facet of Native American life, yet once you get to know them personally, you see they know little, if anything about...well, anything.
NEVER apologize or try to take back your comments or thoughts. Why give these few know it alls the pleasure of running you off or making you uncomfortable to even give your own opinion.

A forum like this and the other million that fill the internet require everyone to be welcoming and hospitable to other members. Without that graciousness, the place will soon become a ghost town. And for all it accomplishes, it would be a shame to see this fate his this forum as it is a good resource for many native ideas and powwows.

Exactly I could not have said it better myself. Even being a white man, aka to them as a twinkie, that is a multi-millionaire myself with lots of connections I got cut down to ribbons here by the so called smart ones here, I too gave up and went away. Being ashamed of what my white forefathers have done to the natives of America, i tried to bridge this gap of a divide because we all are one of the same being human beings, the discrimination now is so prevalent in our society even I got a taste of it so I left America because its a police state now, and the rights of people is all but gone. You talk to a white woman in USA she screams rape, you talk to anyone in USA you get robbed, you ask a question and or give them some respect they truly deserve > they feel insulted, you try to do some good in USA they kill you. The corporate elites are going to rip the people apart taking all they can get from those in USA and then some extra before it all collapses. The hearts of people in America have grown COLD. Being 20 trillion in debt and everybody thinks they OK, economy is strong > 95% heavy in debt with credit cards, as the elite bankers destroy the world. Cannot believe to think of how delusional they have become and not understand they are about to lose everything they ever owned or had in life. I tried to do something good, for a Pow Wow event, even a free trip with accomodations included but they not want so I said **** it, and left.

A powwow is no easy undertaking to put on and it's certainly not cheap. A simple "traditional powwow" can easily cost $15K and a "contest powwow" can cost in upwards of a hundred thousand or more to put on.

Since I have connections to those who are controlling various outcomes as they make their plans from time to time in the Bahamas, I already know what is coming up regarding their intents. Who do you think the IMF is??? Do you believe for one second your dollar bill is made in USA??? Who do you think is going to pay back the 20 trillion debt???? China basically OWNS USA financially. Over 95% of the USA citizens are on credit cards, paying off debts that they have trouble keeping up. Many homes are on Mortgages and guess who owns that?? Did I say Bankers?? Ah, Who do you think runs the credit cards??? Who do you think gives you the loan so you can buy the car??? If you want a house who do you go to get the money?? The list goes on and on. I have not responded here since August. Anyway go ahead and live like you always do and I do wish you all the best of luck. Yes its true it costs almost 200 grand just to have a large Pow Wow contest, and its not easy to get it organized. It keeps getting more expensive as the years go by due to price increases etc. I do applaud to those individuals who put a lot of time and effort into it, and get it done. Sooner or later it's gonna reach the breaking point and then what??? For a baseball game just to get a good seat, costs 300 dollars on up nowadays. To go to a high profiled concert to get close enough to the stage, costs 350 on up. I remember still the Cal Jam 74 with DP playing and my ticket cost was 15 dollars and I was right up at the front of the stage, and later went to the back because at that time I and two others with me were muscians at that time having our own band doing the Chi-Mil circuit gigs. I am not even going to get into the trap regarding the know it all B.S. Elo Janis is right and even he has more sense.

I don't understand why you brought up a thread that's over 2 years old. Seems like if you thought it was so rude, it would have been better to let it lie buried.

Daveyo-why don't you go do something beneficial with those millions-like fund a few hundred Habitat for Humanity homes or something. If you think that by constantly bringing up how rich you are impresses anybody here, you are sadly mistaken. Also, if you are going to use terms used here, you need to know what they mean. Twinkie does not mean a white person-it means a white person who wants to be NDN, and wants to blend a bunch of New Age stuff with Native stuff, and viola-a New Age Indian.
