  • Short Hair Trend

It seems with the recent trend towards the shorter bob (thanks Katie Holems, poshe, etc), many people are going for a shorter 'do. Whne hair is too short for braids, what is a girl to do? Tricks? Secrets?

    Extensions? Rogaine? Bosley? lol

I think Katie Holmes is jus doin the "mom hair-doo"!

I think you could just have a headband/beaded hair piece to dress up your cropped doo. But mostly I think you shouldn't cut it... especially just for fashion sake... if you know you're gonna be dancing (unless you need to have the managable "mom hair-doo" to avoid pulling all your hair out when your kids drive you nuts! lol)

My sister keeps her hair shorter (bout shoulder length) cos she does work with kids but its still long enough to put on hair ties and such. I think that's a good length. My hair is almost too long that my hairties if tied to the ends would sit in a funny place so I generally tie them higher.
~*The only thing we know for sure is that we believe.*~

Never ever cut my hair. Infact, I want it longer, but doesn't everyone? I want to get fusica pink extensions in it. I should call around and see how much that would cost....

If its really too short, then just wear a crown or a headband. I cut my hair in a pixie cut with long bangs when I was 16...which is hard to imagine because my hair is down past my waist now. But I just wore a beaded headband and attached a back barette and plume to that. I think extensions would be too hard and plus what if you were dancing and one fell out? Would that be a major component of your outfit and DQ you? hahaha

Posh is scary looking though, on another note....

There would be no way these extensions would come out, they are braided so tightly to your head, that it hurts. When I got my corn rows done, it hurt so bad, that I only had them in for one night.

Extensions aren't going to come out easily lol. I like the headband with the back barrette idea. French-braiding your hair in either one or two braids down to your hairline and then adding a barrette to the end of your hair works too.
            Don't ever stop dancing

              cutting your hair

I cut a total of 12 inches off my hair this summer, in mid-July (a cousin, my age had breast cancer so I donated my hair to LOCKS for LOVE). Next time I do that it will be after Powwow season is over and I will have the winter to grow it back.....like they say hindsight is 20/20. And I do plan to continue to grow my hair and donate it to this organization.

After the fact, I tried to dance at a powwow. It was hard cause my hair was barely long enough to have 3 or 4 inch braids. But I tried to make do with what I had. It wasn't the look I was used to while dancing but all in all I did it for a good reason and for a good cause. Yeahit seems like my hairties were as about as long as my earrings....it was funny looking to me....didn't think anyone else noticed, though.

Tawny Hale wears her hair real short (near the nap of her neck). I saw her at Morongo and it looked like she used hair gel, no braid, just little pig tails and otter. It looked killa.

When my daughter cut her hair (about 8 in), it was barely past her shoulders......so when she braided her hair, it was even shorter.......some of her frens told her to use yarn (black) and weave it into her hair when she braids it to make it longer and that worked for her......when you wrap your braids, you cant tell the difference

Yea I suggest you get some otters. :)
The only time its too late to start dancing is when you're dead.

My sister and I have a little trick we use when we cut our hair a little above our shoulders. Ok, here goes:
Braid you hair or use pig tails whatever is easiest with your hair length. Get some felt (brown or black or whatever you wanna use), cut it in half long ways and kinda thin too if you dont want them looking like big tootsie rolls. Wrap the felt around the top of your braids and keep it in place with a rubber band and gather it together and wrap 'em with bias tape. Boom~boom~bam.. you have braids. It's pretty easy to do and you can't even tell that they're fake.

I just had another several inches cut off my hair in mourning for a friend who passed on recently. This has been the second time this year I've cut my hair for that reason, and I'm beginning to worry about powwow season. The first powwow I'm planning on attending this year is in March, so I don't know what I'll do about my hair. I really like the headband idea, though.

Do you have your hair trimmed at all? If so you do it yourself? Go to a professional? Do you it on a full moon?... new moon? Or do you leave your long lovely locks alone?

How do you wear your hair

Since we are also talking about barrette's and accessories,
Do you braid your hair up, leave it loose, wear eagles,....

When my hair was longer, i did braid it up, but with it in between now, i may leave it loose and small braid to hold my eagles.
                                What about the rest of...

What does everyone think about a female dancer w/ short hair. This actually pertains to me. I am a jingler as a lot of you know and I am also a hair stylist. It is my job to always look good. It is also my tradition to have long hair. I LOVE dancing and I LOVE my heritage. I first cut my hair froma...

Hey everybody. I've got a bit of a problem... So I've been cast in the lead of my schools musical WHOO!!! Problem is, the director wants me to cut my hair!!! I've tried to explain to him that hair is very important to Natives but he said "it'll grow back" or "it's just hair". ...

I'm only 29, I look younger, but I found a grey hair yesterday. As far as anyone knows, my family hasn't turned grey until their 60's if at all. Is this common? Has anyone else turned grey early? Should I pull it out or see my doctor? :Eyepopper
Just so I won't be surprised, do I need to know...
