How Important is how a woman is dressed?

When you judge Buckskin style, how important is the way a woman is dressed? And what do you look for in dress? Also, do you prefer traditional or contemporary buckskin dresses?

I think its somewhat important. When i'm judging, usually 1 and 2 are stand outs due to dancing ability. They got grace flow and can move those fringes with out swingin arms, etc. But then for 3rd (and some pow-wows, 4th and 5th)... the last is tough. So thats when the outfit comes in to play.

I dance southern women's traditional, depending on where you go, most will be judged on dancing, others will be on how they are dressed. We are supposed to carry a shawl, fan, and bag. It is also depends on how traditional you are

Looking nice is a plus ,but when I judge it is on what the lady brings to the dance style. As a judge I watch poise, grace, keeping time with the drum, fringe ect. I dont judge by outfit the out fit is not contesting the person in it is. That is my opp in no way am I objecting it is just the way I do it.

Now one way not to get points from me is walking in there like you have won before you have even startd lol.. Yah that is a real oh no she just diddnt att from me lol...

The dancing should be graceful. The outfit should look complete and balanced, not neccessarily expensive (bling-bling) but complete. As granny would have said, "if your going to dance, no micky-mousing it."
