The best southern buckskin dressmaker in my opinion is Vanessa Paukeigope Jennings from Red Stone, Oklahoma.... She's just a straight up bad-a$$ beadworker and clothing maker.

On a side note, at this past year's NDN market in Santa Fe, Vanessa won her division in the clothing contest. She was wearing this coooooool dress - made out of white tradecloth, but cut like a Kiowa buckskin dress, with the tabs and all. The selvage of the cloth was at the point of each tab, the bottom edges of the sleeves and skirt. Then she added the fringe on the sleeves, killer beadwork..... just freaking awsome.
Functionless art is simply tolerated vandalism.

        Wow

Sounds pretty. I love her work. Very old school, don't need all that ice to dress up her work.:Angel2

Grandma Grace Tsontekoy..Jackie and Linda's dresses are awesome.
Rita Franklin Poor Buffalo: very traditional
Sanah Scott: very detailed and put together nicely. She is really nice, too.

ITA!! I have several dresses (including a cowrie shell buckskin) that Vanessa made. She's great, and her dresses are pretty classy if I say so myself. :)

I have to give some credit to Carrie Horse, who made my other two buckskin dresses. I like them a lot too, they're a little more contemporary, but still not over the edge or anything, and she's made well over 60 dresses for people so far. She can't be too bad if that many people trust her. *hehehe*

Hello, I have a question for you all:) I did have a cloth dress that was made in almost the exact same style as a buckskin dress, right down to the long fringe on the cape, and underdress. I know it is a cloth dress done in the style of a bucskin dress, but if someone was to dance in that dress, what...

How do you store your buckskin dress? I've heard some people wrap them in sheets and fold them, and others hang them up. I just had one made for my daughter and need some advice before I do something I may regret.

Hi. I am hoping someone out there can help me. I am looking for a pattern for an apache buckskin dress or someone who knows how to make one. I think I could make one if I had the right instructions but if the price was right, I wouldn't mind buying one already made. I would do all the beadwork....
