The best southern buckskin dressmaker in my opinion is Vanessa Paukeigope Jennings from Red Stone, Oklahoma.... She's just a straight up bad-a$$ beadworker and clothing maker.
On a side note, at this past year's NDN market in Santa Fe, Vanessa won her division in the clothing contest. She was wearing this coooooool dress - made out of white tradecloth, but cut like a Kiowa buckskin dress, with the tabs and all. The selvage of the cloth was at the point of each tab, the bottom edges of the sleeves and skirt. Then she added the fringe on the sleeves, killer beadwork..... just freaking awsome.Functionless art is simply tolerated vandalism.

I have to give some credit to Carrie Horse, who made my other two buckskin dresses. I like them a lot too, they're a little more contemporary, but still not over the edge or anything, and she's made well over 60 dresses for people so far. She can't be too bad if that many people trust her. *hehehe*
