  • shawls and dresses

i have a few diferent dresses and shawls that all go together. I was just wondering if it would be okay to rotate a shawl or dress so that I was wearing a different one during competition at a powwow?:)

As long as your colors coordinate, I dont see any reason you cant mix and match pieces. You might also try different color scarves to make them look different.

most cloth dancers i know change for day and night dancing.
Like I'll wear a certain one for a day dance and a different dress for night.
I have no idea if that helps.
      Well will wonders never cease.....

        Spectator regalia?
        by trob226
I am a spectator and plan to stay one, but someone once suggested that I wear a plain T dress and moccs, maybe a simple necklace and earrings, and a plain shawl and dance an intertribal if I wanted. I suppose something just as simple could be put together for a guy. Spectators could feel more a part...

1.) Cloth dresses which is the easiest, cheepest and least accessories...

        Buckskin designs
        by cherokeemom06
I have a couple of cloth dresses and have finally decided to put the time, effort and money into my first buckskin dress. I tried to buy one (don't yell at me, I have two small kids and finding time to cut all that fringe was a bit daunting! ) but everytime I almost made a deal with someone,...

I have 2 cherokee tear dresses made from the crazy crow pattern, but I look like a buffalo in those things :Cry.

I want to try a two piece dress appropriate for a Cherokee dancer...but don't know what kind of changes to make. The ladies I've seen in the...
