any tips for doing white appliques on a red dress???? LOL...I'd love the dress to be washable without turning my appliques pink!

hmmmmmm what if you washed the material quite a few times and drying before adding the applique? i would think this would make the material stop bleeding so bad..

that sounds like a good idea ^^^

mrs. wilson roberts gave me one piece of advice - "dryclean!!" lol - she said even if i'm flat busted broke I always dryclean - it saves you alot of money. better to pay a lill money to clean it than alot of money to replace it ...

do what I do with black fabrics, wash warm with salt or vinegar to set the color better before hand.

thanks everybody...I'd thought about prewashing it alot before I add the appliques (I think I'll try the salt or vinegar idea!!!)

and I know I can always just dry clean the thing, but I really prefer my dresses to be machine washable...they smell better that way! LOL

thought maybe somebody knew of a trick to keep it from bleeding thru...

I'll tell you what I want to do...I have a really nice heavyweight "linen-look" red material that I want to do edge appliques in white so that it looks like that "saved-list" stroud cloth they sell at crazycrow for like 76 bucks a yard...soooo can't afford that right now! LOL

I've already made the dress...just waiting for the courage to do the applique in white!
