  • How to get a stiffy

Ok, now that I have your attention! LOL What is the best way you have found to make you beaded leggings stiff so they stand up by themselves? I'm making a new pair and am going to use zippers to close them with. I haven't made them this way before. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do your beadwork on cribliner. It's pretty firm.

If that doesn't work try VIAGRA!:Chatter

        Stiffys are good!

I'm told that cribliners work great.

cribliner does work wonders but, wonder under a piece of like paper bag material to the back... this will make it super stiff but not unsewable.... ;)

I use cotton and felt to bead on for things like that. It works great on crowns. I don't know why it wouldn't work for your "stiffy" :D

            Or the Viagra?

Well, the best way I have found is wait till late at night after the kids asleep then, get some candles, some chocolate syrup and BAM!! Hot Cocoa! Ha What did you think I was going to say?

I use canvas, heat-n-bond, and stitch and tear. This works good for little kids stuff or leggings. It keeps it upright with out ridigness!

Thanks for the input everyone! I'm making a new fancy shawl set for next year. Out of work at the moment so I figured I might as well get to beading! Hope to have it done for Denver March, if I can keep motivated it'll be no problem!! LOL
Do most of you use the zippers in the front or do you fasten them another way? I've always just tied my leggings in the front before, but noticed that alot of people use the zippers and it looks quicker and easier. Or do you just sew them shut and pull them up? Thanks!

Oh, yeh! Got ya Mato!! LOL
Maybe I'll try the viagra!! hehehe :Chatter :Chatter

LOL crazy had me thinking in gutter mind mode......

Anyways now that I've crawled out of the gutter, I use zippers to fasten my leggings.

Finally, a question i thought i could repsond too!! Anyway, i know a little sumpin sumpin about what your askin tooo..I have alway's used zippers in leggings, and theres vinyl you can get at the fabric store that is very very easy to bead on and to sew on, and it's sturdy...Sometimes using canvas can get old, and sometimes starts to frey, even will turn a little black and moldy.....A friend of mine just made new leggings and i think she did it on canvas, and when she was done, she put a really thin type of plastic wiffle in it, and it seems to work pretty good too. And i usually put the zipper in before starting to bead....and there are just a few way's to get stiff

I use heat and bond after the beadwork is done. I iron it on to the back a couple times then but another layer of any kind of cloth. That keeps em stiff!!

I was told that beading them separately is easier than doing them all in on piece, so that is how I'm doing them, but I have run...

I want to make some beaded leather leggings. What is the best way to have them stay on? A drawstring at the top or what?

I was thinking maybe put those little metal gromettes up the side and then lace them like a boot. Would that be too weird?

Hi there. I'm 26 years old, I have a little munchkin daughter that will be 2 in September. This past weekend, she begged me to take her out into the arena with the other kids to dance. I did. I felt bad because she wanted to do this on her own... I owe her an outfit...

                                My dilemma is that...
