What do u guys think about someone that has danced cloth all the time then suddenly switches to fancy shawl?

I seen a couple of people do that and they ended up switching back. But lets hear your thoughts.

I personally havnt seen a cloth dancer switch to fancy shawl but I would imagine it would be kinda tiresome for them to have the stamina it takes to move at the pace that fancy shawl has to move to. Cloth uses totally differnt muscles than fancy does so I would think it would be kinda hard to dance.. IMHO :D

Actually it was a buckskin dancer.

she's pretty well known and this was a while ago. So she switched and people made comments all the time and I don't know if that was the reason or what but she ended back as buckskin.

I thought it was cool tho.

            Switching

I think that would be kind of neat to see one dancer all of a sudden switch to another dance. Just to try something new. Maybe they'll be really good at it. If your talking about people saying bad stuff, why would they??? What's wrong with that??

I heard during the Atlanta 96 games, Tukie and Elizabeth Top Sky traded for one show. Now I wish I were a fly on the wall for that one.

the only time i really see a prob switchin is after goin jingle dancin sumthin else -- unless ure too old to dance ( i tried to put that respectfully) but i know id hate to see sum1 break their hip dancin jingle or fancy.

what im talkin bout is like younger ppl switchin outof jingle and back-- ive just always been told ur not supposed to do that bcuz jingle was a prayer dance--
                      correct me if im wrong

I can see where your coming from Lumbee Turtle but I think superndngirl was talking about a cloth dancer switching to fancy shawl. But then on what your talking about I don't see why if you start dancing Jingle you have to be stuck with it for the rest of your life?? Maybe they just want to try and it does'nt work out like they thought it would. Or maybe it's just one of those things you don't question :dontknow:

I HAD A FRIEND THAT WHEN AFTER HER BABY SHE WENT FROM FANCY SHAWL TO SOUTHERN CLOTH. BEFORE FANCY SHAWL SHE DANCED JINGLE.

BUT SHE TRIED FANCY AGAIN BUT WAS WAY OUT OF SHAPE AND WENT BACK TO CLOTH.

BUT SHE'S THINKING OF GOING BACK JINGLE AGAIN! WHATEVER MAKES HER HAPPY I GUESS.

                          PEEKS ;)

This weekend at an intertribal, non-competition, powwow I saw something I've never seen before. There were two ladies there who weren't in fancy shawl regalia, but danced fancy shawl. Both appeared to be in their 30s and danced the traditional cloth style all other times. One wore a tear dress and...

I'm looking for a Fancy Shawl Dancer who would be interested in giving a program for the public on the Medicine Bow National Forest (Laramie, WY). This is part of our Moonwalk series and this particular program focuses on butterflies and the Fancy Shawl Dance. I do apologize up front for any ignorance...
