  • Outfits & Dancing

Do you think that outfits have an effect on a ladies dancing. For example; If a dancer didn't have alot of hairties or didn't have her hair wrapped and didn't place, If she did have all these things, would have placed??:dontknow: Or even if they didn't have a high class outfit on make them look as though they didn't dance good??? Do you people catch my drift???

I remember not placing high or not placing at all, till I had beadwork. Not everybody can afford it ,but it shows you care about your overall appearance. It took a long to receive my tail and plumes. Even having and not having them makes a difference too. Alot of my older friends and aunties have told me they judge on the overall completeness of there gear.:Chatter

YOUR RIGHT THEY DO JUDGE UPON THE WHOLE OUTFIT.BEADED DOWN IS BETTER. I'VE SEEN SOME LADIES WITH SOME REAL HIDEOUS OUTFITS THAT YOU CAN TELL CAN NOT SEW FOR BEANS. AND IT'S A GAWD AWFUL LOOKING PIECE. POOR THINGS.
BUT AT THE SAME TIME THEY CAN REALLY DANCE AND GET DOWN. UNFORTUNATELY THEY NEVER PLACE AND PEOPLE TALK SMACK ABOUT THEM. :secrets: :mocking:

        When a dancer doesn't place...
        by Solaris
After going to the Roseau River powwow this past weekend, a dancer I was rooting for didn't even place. I'm not sure just how disappointed he would have been (I'd imagine quite), but I was wondering if it ever happens that dancers who don't win anything get discouraged enough to not attend that particular...

Do's & Don'ts When Flying With Dance Regalia

It's been a while since I've flown to a pow-wow. The last time I did .....I know we didn't have to deal w/ all the restrictions of today. I'm mostly nervous about my eagle feathers. If you've taken your outfit through the airlines lately I would sure appreciate some input here............

Hello, was at chamber's farm last night for a so called pow-wow.
In my opinion, they needed to call it a white man trying to have a Native American gathering. sevral of the dancers were walking across the circle with food and drinks, just so they didn't have to go around the circle. they had people...

        Did You Ever....
        by Coyot_In_The_House
Have the oppurtunity to grow up with some rather cool people and continue on with that experience thru the years but, but.....There was always a small percentage who were just miserable? You know that contingent of people that no matter what anyone did.......were just never satisfied? Seems this way...
