Hi There,
First I should introduce myself as I am new to this fourm. My name is Kim. I am from the Algonquin nation. I am fairly new to reclaiming the lost traditions from our family. My Mom and I are going to attemt to make my daughters fancy shawl regalia (she is 7) but I can't find a pattern for the dress. I was just going to use a different pattern but I thought I would ask if anyone could tell me where I find one. I wouldn't be against making a skirt either if I had a pattern. I want to make the dress out of cotton but I am not sure what I should do for the shawl. I see alot of the shawls are made out of bridal satin but I think I should use coton for our first time. Any suggestions? I am also worried about the fringe. If I am using cotton, do I use ribbon for the shawl or do we sew up strips from the cotton we used. Also what size should the bib be? I guess the truth is we are truley winging it so if anybody has any tips or suggestions, I would truley appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
Kim
