  • fastest footwork vs. classic style

I think Bonnie Tomahsah and Rose Track have about the fastest footwork. Whereas, Lisa Ewalk, Gracie HerManyHorses, Lillian GoodEagle, Nahmee Lasley have awsome style.
Speed vs. Style....which do pick when you judge?

I Persnoly say it depends on the drum beet, if it is a fast, trick song, then spead come's in. if it is a reguilure Fancy Shawl song, then foot work come's in. so I go both ways.

        Type of song.
Fast song maintaining style and grace
        Regular Song, Style and grace.

For me that's what I judge on. Some women make fast footwrok a part of their style for other women it's about having graceful foot work, which might not be the fastest but it looks totally put together and smooth.
For me it's about style and grace.
Some girls nowadays consider fast footwork that step where you run across the areana at fast speed when its a fast song. For me, that's a Nono. All that shows me is you can sprint, not necessarily dance.
Before you attempt to beat the odds, make sure you can survive the odds beating you!

I like to see the girls who can keep up with the song but make it look smooth at the same time. But I also like when they put footwork in with the fast songs. It looks nice.:)

Rose Greene is so fast on those feet of hers, it's hard to tell if she touches the ground. She's just downright awesome to watch though.

And my buddy Kanani Nahanee is so graceful on her feet too. She practically floats across the dance area.

I'm impressed by every girl/woman that dances fancy, its an athletic category and kudos to these females that train!

I'm not an expert or anything. But I like steps. I like it when you see steps out there that no ones does. I like innovators. I like it when a girl is out there dancing with her heart and she dances like there is no tomorrow. I also like speed. I like seeing girls who dance hard no matter what... contest.. intertribals.. cause you know they have their mind and heart is in the right place. I like it when you see character in their dancing that makes them unique and different than another dancer. I'm not much of a running fan... running around the arena. Probably just to get to an open space.. but other than that.. it should be about footaction, not how high you can kick or sprinting like FancyStar said.

Thank u, thats basicly what i think, and thats why I stay away from most com. dancing down here, all they judge is if you can shake you @$$ and make it throe the song. that realy does piss me off. I like it Fast, I still do my fancy foot work, always have done it on the fast side. I was brought up on the fast side. Was all so learning from the Grass Dancers too, but thats before i know what i know

I personally like neat and polished foot work,,,and not alot of arm waving. Girlz that look light on there feet catch my attention. Gurlz that are lapping the arena turn me off.

I agree with wall flower all that running around the arena is not needed. Footwork it's all about that footwork. I think that's what makes a good fancy dancer. I like it when they are dancing and they make it look like they are enjoying it that catches my attention when I am judging on also.:Chatter
