Can't ever say it was mine. My sis made a few and I just burrowed herz. Tiffany Paskimine and her sis Netty Yazzie started a trend out here. Then again what fad didn't they start out here. They made awesome stuff for Netty. I think she had like 6 of them. Each one different and purty. They have some new sequin colors out ,I'm thinking of making one for myself.

I remember Antoinette Begay and her sequin outfits. In 1989 her black and white outfit was cool but I noticied that her fancy shawl steps were too awesome for somebody so young. It turned out that she was copying Gracie Her Many Horses Meeks dance steps and Gracie actually confronted Antoinette and told her to stop. Antoinette complied and was still able to win without plagarizing Gracie's steps. But it would've been nice to have had a Gracie mini-me.

My very first onw was sequin then I made like, 3 beaded ones. I'm getting a new suin one from Tiff however, and will be wearig it next year! I Just like the shine and flair. Before you attempt to beat the odds, make sure you can survive the odds beating you!

It was white background eagle feathers on it and a geometrical design. It was the flat kind and it wasn't the kind with the beads holding them down they were glued on and then hand sewed down. You know what would look awesome? Is an outfit made of those holographic sequins that are out now. I only seen gold and silver around but I'm always waitin to see Bonnie come out w/ one like that. I haven't seen one yet has anyone?

I made my daughter Angie a purple set back in 90. It was awesome and everyone thought it was all bugle beads. It was the flat sequins and I just sewed them on with the machine.
Then I made my daughter Jo a set with sequins and a beaded design. It was looked very cool.
I still like to put at least a row of sequins on the border of things I make. And am looking for more hologram sequins for my grandbaby's first outfit.:)...it is what it is...

by VIP4lifeI never had one. Lots of gurls down here had them. Netty had some cool ones. Her older sis Kim had this awesome baby blue one. Even Tanksida had one. I had several threads on sequin and needle point outfits and I forgot about this style.

by BeadManI just got back from a trip to Oklahoma where I had a wonderful conversation with a Kiowa man and a Pawnee man about fancy dance and its hitory and also its future. The topic of outfits came up and we started talking about beadwork. Their views were that less beadwork is seen among dancers today and...

by WhoMeSome outfits have been handed down from a family member. Others have been value beyond dollars because of personal reasons. Others like mine, have been specifically made for the dancer.
What would you do if a collector, museum or powwow dancer offered to buy your outfit?
