Hey guys, I have a question about fancy shawl dancing. What would be the best workouts for getting fit to dance the fancy shawl style? I've been a fancy shawl dancer for 18 years now, kind of on and off. Just last year I haven't been dancing that much, and after having my first child this past winter, I was bigger and not very fit at all so I started dancing jingle instead of fancy for obvious reasons lol. Since then I've slimmed downn and I wanted to start up fancy again :).

Nothing beats clearing the front room out and turning on the CD player! You can get a workout with snow outside while dancing to actual songs used in competition. Also with this workout you can improve your moves and stamina!Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.

Lots of cardio and Weights. Dancing as a way of cardio helps but ya need to build up endurance. Best way to do that is running. Stair's also help out with your calves. Sorry not a big fitness guru but I know what helps me stay in shape. Good luck :D
