I never had one. Lots of gurls down here had them. Netty had some cool ones. Her older sis Kim had this awesome baby blue one. Even Tanksida had one. I had several threads on sequin and needle point outfits and I forgot about this style.

Did you ever have a Bugle Beaded set?

I have 2 outfits right now done in bugle beads and one done with regular beads. I did a full set last year and I love the way it came out! The longer beads just lay nice and really sparkle. They look like cutglass. I used the bugles for these 2 outfits because of the patterns I used. They really helped compliment the look I wanted. My last oufit has waterbirds on it, and the bugles make the wings and tail on the birds look long and flowing. I don't think the outfit would have looked anything like it does with regular beads.

Hey ladies.... my sis has a bad-a$$ bugle beaded fancy shawl set - fully beaded yolk and leggins that matches the star-quilt type design on her shawl, w/ black birds, rainbows, etc. Just killer yolk and leggings, and she even has a set of beaded and sequined tennis shoes that goes with it. Her screen name on here is Walela49, so flood her with PM's and get her to post pics.... I've got a couple of pics of this outfit, but I'll let her post it if she wants - she worries about hobs and wanabes swiping her designs off the net, but she might PM you back with a pic or something.
now if I could just get her to do some beadwork for me! arrrrgh!Functionless art is simply tolerated vandalism.

I hear that about losin' beads when they cut through thread. My brother told me 'bout some kinda crazy bead thread that's made of the same stuff that bullet proof vests are made of...kevlar I think...super strong so yer beads don't cut through. Can't remember where he said you could buy it.
And, hell no, I'm not postin' any pics of my bad-a$$ beadwork. That's just like sayin', "Here's my hours and hours of hard work and personal designs for you to download and copy to your heart's content!" Ah, no way, I'm way too stingy!

you can get the thread at any fishing store, they sell it as "Spider Wire" and it comes in all strenghts. It really is tough. Try and break it with your hands and feel it cut into your skin, heck it comes with the warning not to break it that way.Listen to my heart, not just my mouth! The most powerfull thing we can do is,,,share,,, if we don't it dies with us.

I got a set and those beads like to fall off I have to keep doing repair work on them. But they look really nice at night. Currently I'm makin a new set of beadwork using 3 cuts (ooohh purdy can't wait)
That spider line stuff sounds worth it next time I have repairs to do I think I'll invest in that.

vest
I beaded down my brother a vest actually my mom started it and she kept getting peeved at the half broken ones she didnt notice til she had them laid and tacked then she would notice that half was cracked and they would lay crazy so she had to break off and start again.i told her Mah whydont you just check them all BEFORE you start beading she just gave me that "Get out of here llook "anyway she wound up giving me the project and it turned out looking really nice.the majority of the pattern had yellow in it three colors of yellow and boi did they glisten just right but gee was that one heavy vest.i dont dance with any bugle beadwork i like to get really intricate with my patterns and i findit harder to do that with bugles.Friends dont let friends take home ugly Men. :huddle:

I used the longer ones they were ok for the most part and most of them stayed on but around the ankles is where they always start to come off and I have to do the repair work.

by LeannBMost of you folks are WAY ahead of me on the bead learning curve, but I thought would post something nifty I had found for bead storage. I was trying to organize my growing collection of pretty beads, and was going thru the outdoor section at Walmart. They had lots of tackle organizers in the fishing...

by docatI had never used a beading heddle, but a lot of traditional beaders used a heddle. I can see a few advantages. One thing, you wouldn't have to have a needle. You could thread the beads through some stiff sinew or thread.
You wouldn't have to worry about dropped rows.

by SuzizilaHi everyone,
Has anyone here ever beaded one of those key ring clips which are shaped like caribiners (the one used for rock climbing? they are a bit awkward, but turning out OK in the end. What are your experiences beading these. What works for you? i have two more to bead.

by BeadManIn response to the thread on favorite beads, I'd like to spin in a slightly different direction and ask about mixing beads. BLACKBEAR used "matte with luster" beads, TIGGER uses "regular with translucent," ALASKASHADOWWOLF uses "translucent for the outline and opaque for the...

by BlackbearOk I say this is one way because of the different types of barrettes there are and many different people have some different ways of doing this. Since I was making a barrette and had come to the construction part anyhow, I thought I would just go ahead and snap pics and show how I did it.
