I think someone who is out there giving it their all..and you see that they are enjoying every second. You see them smiling and talkin around.

The gals that come to mind is Stacey Goodbuffalo and Heidi Starwalker... they can jam.. on intertribals you always see 'em out there too! ;)

I also like Carol Meltingtallow's attitude.. she's been thru alot and used dancing to get thru her hard times... she's a total sweetie too! :D

I know there are many of you who i have not listed but it would take me a hecka long time to list you allz and add commentaries.. you think? *L* but.. these are the girls that come to mind at the moment *S*:D

I agree with this. Although I have not actually met Carol M.T., by what people say she is a wonderful person. Stacey and Heidi are nice people. They are out there for the right reasons. They are always out there and have fun. N/E wayz another thing that makes a champ, to me, is someone who can dance in any weather and do many songs. Another example is ^^^^ Shammary Yazzie. She is always out there in intertribals and seems to enjoy herself.

            no no....

no no... you guys are missing the whole question here...i am not asking who you think is a good championship dancer...i am asking what makes people championship dancers and how do they come upon those names?? i know some gurls around here who call themselves championship dancers but i don't really see them enjoying themselves or meeting new people...i just see them having more then one regalia.... so whut makes championship dancers?

to me what makes a champ. dancer is their steps, footwork, how fancy it is (hence this is the fancy forum, lol) their outfits have to show how hard they worked,b/c if you put work in to your outfit then that shows how much you care about your dancing. another thing is being out there,w/out showing how tired they are, dancing every song they can.

Hi Xammy, I'm really honored to know that you feel this way, I was really touched in what you had to say during your special at UCLA-I wanted to honor you back in the same when when I had the chance- and I thought about how much you have inspired me as well, when I made the doll for you. Sometimes its rough out there, all you want to do is enjoy yourself and makes friends-you were one of the first girls that gave me a chance:)Thank you :D

                    what makes a champ.

I think a champion dancer should be able to dance any type of songs, make grand entrys fully dressed, dance intertribals, and respect their traditions and be proud of who they are.

To me- whatever category you're in, a champion dancer is someone who's been out in the powwow world for a long time. Understanding and respecting the ways of our people through powwow. They spend extra time practicing their dance, learning more and teaching their native ways to the younger generation and others. Consistantly powwowing, winning at contests nationwide, and having a good reputation earns them the respect of a champion dancer.

Someone who tries there hardest and is an excellent dancer and experienced with a nice outfit, and has their own style of dancing instead of copying others.

It's the footwork. Individual style, attitude. When I seen a dancer who I see as a champion, he or she moves like they are floating smooth. It gives you the chills when you see it.

You don't have to have the most decked out outfit to have that something special IMO.

                            Endurance an your own style.

Male dancer like that is or was Johnathan Windyboy

Female dancer is or was Rodell StandingElk.

Have the oppurtunity to grow up with some rather cool people and continue on with that experience thru the years but, but.....There was always a small percentage who were just miserable? You know that contingent of people that no matter what anyone did.......were just never satisfied? Seems this way...
