Hadn't heard that version. Thanks.. I enjoyed reading about the group and seeing all the photos!:)
"We see it as a desecration not only of a mountain but of our way of life. This is a genocidal issue to us. If they kill this mountain, they kill our way of life." ~Debra White Plume
I was just confused by all the hundreds of others that say theirs is "THE" original story.

This story was originally a teaching given entirely in Ojibwe language. Somehow, on being translated, it started changing. Person to person to person to yet another person and so on in the English language, the story developed changes.
Rhonda White has translated this into English as close to the original as can be.
M.C's all over the country, have tried to retell this story from memory. You all know how good the memory can be.
So, if you heard one hundred other versions, this is probably the reason. You'll probably hear many more versions of the original teachings.
Does this sound familiar with the "Crow hop" story? Funny how stories change as it gets passed along, innit? Anyhoo, I agree with the story given by the Crow people.
Nice to see that it is in writing somewhere, THE ORIGINAL story is what i've always heard about....going to powwows it is frustrating when other tribes tell different versions...Thanks for the link
