      of course ya would...

I figure jingle is for the "middle" women... *L* you dance fancy when you're young... jingle when your a little older... then traditional when you're old....but, if you are jingle, get in better shape, you could go to fancy... or just flat out go to traditional.. not that either dance is better. But, ya just see more women dancing jingle because it's the "now" trend... ya dig...lol

Hehehe, totally agree with ya there, shannon_lynn. I want to be a golden age granny jinglin' away. I cant remember which pow-wow it is, but there is now a golden jingle category. I thought that was too cool. There was only one woman in it, but its definitely forging a path. I thought that was awesome. I wanna be doing that some day too.

I first started out as a fancy shawl dancer...then switched to jingle...it's great to see that there are alot of older women who stick to jingle...i'm only 25 so who know's if i might stay with jingle when in 60+ only time will tell...but sticking to jingle is a personal preference by that woman. the reason why i said its great to see older women in jingle is because us younger jingle dancers look up and get advise from those older women because they are more experienced... way to go and keep it going to all you older women jingle dancers out there!!!:)

Right now I'm a fancy dancer..but mabey in the fututre i'll dance jingle:)
This thread brings up a memorie. I went to the Peigas Powwow this summer with an elder. She was sayin that the always wanted to dance but just didnt make time for it. I asked what style then I said traditional. She siad "no, I like jingle." That really made me smile. Beacuse her age is getting up there. That gave me so much energy to dance. I can identify with what you said Sweet Syilx. When I get old I wanna show the young ones not to give up on dancing. :D

what i was told is that bcause it is like a medicine dance you should not dance with a diff style after starting jingle-- maybe its just around here though

I dance both too, but fancy more than jingle. Jingle is fun to do once in a while but fancy is my everything *L* I dont think I could ever switch to just jingle.
How u gonna act like my shawl dont bling? How u gonna act like my fringe dont swing?

like powwowchic49, i switch back and fourth. in a way, i feel like i don't know what i want to dance. i have fun dancing both jingle and fancy. when i was little, i started off with jingle, then went to fancy and now i'm stuck in between trying to decide, but if i like both, i'll continue switching back and fourth.

I've been out of the pow-wow circle since 1997. I have begun dancing traditional recently(my older relatives encouraged me to get back 2 dancing) But when I used to dance -it was jingle, i would do pretty good back in teens. I talked with a older guy friend about me dancing jingle again and he said...

IS JINGLE HARDER THAN FANCY SHAWL? JUST WONDERING, BECAUSE I KNOW A GURL WHO WANTS TO KNOW. I REALLY THINK JINGLE IS HARDER WITH ALL THAT STRINGIN THE JINGLES AND THE SIDE STEP. THATS REALLY PAINFUL. I THINK FANCY HAS IT EASY BESIDES ALL THE FAST SONGS.
