Good source for a pattern would be cowboy shirts -- they have various types of capes, pointed, round....make your alterations - attach at neck - finish with bias tape or facing and you are in business. I have made a couple tradish shirts with capes -- look real nice!
Oh, I also stitch through cape and shoulder seam a little to keep it from sliding around. Just a hint!

cape style dress
I went to the fabric store and bought a pattern for cape and dress together. I made the cape and cut it to the desired length. It looks great.

by luvlumbeeI was just wondering how do you construct your dress. What I mean by this is, if you use satin do you line it? What other materials do you use for dresses besides poplin, cotton, satin, velvet etc,. I am all about experimenting!
