  • drinking and dancing?

ok..theres this woman that wants to dance jingle but her mom doesnt want to make her a dress cuz the daughter still drinks but this person wants to get on the red road...do you think she might have a better chance if she had a dress..to provide incentive? or would she just think her moms being too overly "traditional" and just forgots about the whole idea...?
    (hope this makes sense)..
    (not about me..honestly...)

i think her moms in the right...because as jingle dancers thats one of the major no no's is drinking so before she should even consider dancing she should think about stop drinking...depending on the severity of the problems she should seek help...like if its ocassionally its going to alot easier for her to stop she just needs to be directed in the right path

The mother is correct. She should explain it clearly to the daughter also. Not just your drinking, I will not make you the dress. But really tell the daughter how much love she has for her; what it means to "walk" the red road, and that when she finds it, the dress will be made.

I think that if the daughter can stop drinking and prove herself that she quitted then maybe the mother can make her a dress?

I think her mom is 100% right...she should explain to her daughter why she knows it is wrong and explain to her the purpose of the dress, etc. The daughter should be on the "red road" before she wears the dress...

I completely agree with the Mom. Jingle dancing is something that should be taken very seriously and treated with the upmost respect. I feel that the daughter should first prove that she is on the right path before the mother even considers making her a dress. If the daughter wants this bad enough she will find the strength within herself to change her ways.

                    I agree, Mom is right!
Any of us who jingle should prepare themselves for the dance before beginning so this could be great timing for this lady. Stopping drinking could be part of this for her. While she's kicking the habit she could design her dress, roll and string her jingles, make her own leggings, etc. All of this along with preparing for her give-away and learning the history of the dance could put her well on her down the red path.
I'd bet her Mom would be willing to help with that!
Like those who came before us and those that will follow; so shall we dance.

I agree, she should quit first and prove that she is willing to make that commitment. I'm glad to see that some people still believe that you shouldn't drink and dance. I've seen too many times them people after the powwow at 49s or the hotel parties just getting wasted, like people that should know better. I've seen champion dancers, drums, etc up in there partying and drinkin up a storm, then going out to dance or sing the next day. What is y'alls opinion on that? People we're supposed to look up to, people who are supposed to be our role models, and we see them doing this. I'm not completely innocent I'm not gonna lie like that but I never did drink and go out dancing the next day. Now I don't drink at all, and you know what, I don't miss a thing. Its not worth it. Anywayz....enough of that...just my 2cents

                      See ya!

Over a year ago a lady came to me and asked me to make her a white buckskin wedding dress. (Traditional style) I said yes, then she decided she wanted her whole bridal party to wear traditional clothing, well wait, i guess she didnt care if the were traditional, as long as it was regalia. She wanted...

My almost 5 yr old daughter has been asking me to make her a jingle dress for almost a year now. The problem is when she was younger (about 2 ) she had a jingle dress made for her and she only danced in it once, any other time she didn't want to put it on or dance. I know she's grown up but even now...

I was inspired by three women dancers.
