Hey everyone, just curious, what do ya think of them jingle capes out there, how did they get started and why? Do you think some of them are stylish or sloppy? Just curious....

I dont know how they got started but i like them. Some girls can pull them off and make em look real keen, while others... cant. But i have seen some really pretty ones! When i was younger i had a fully beaded one, it was pretty tight! Havent tried another, dont think i can out due the first one!:p

      jingle capes

Who do you think has some nice capes for jingle? I like Yvette Ewalks and Wenona Goodeagles....are they supposed to be beaded? I like floral capes too...they look pretty spiffy..Do you think the cape should have cones attached to it or just beaded?

Personally I love the capes and yokes! Some of them are really beautiful! Both the cloth and beaded types. I've seen the cloth capes around for quite a few years....remember first seeing them back when I was in teens (long time ago!!...lol). But I never really seen beaded capes til these past few years. Yvette Ewalk has such pretty beaded capes...I really like her green one and purple one. Kristy Yuzicappi has a real nice yellow one. Alanna Baker also has a nice purple cloth cape with beaded designs and I think she has a black one too with beaded florals. Bernadette Badger has a nice beaded purple cape with flowers. I don't have a beaded cape but I do have cloth yokes with some of my dresses, but for my next beadwork which I am currently working on I want to make a matching cape but I'll probably leave it last and get everything else done first. I'm just thinking of the shape because some of the beaded capes I've seen have some nice curves to it. And the capes aren't as long as fancy dance capes....just over the shoulder.

I think capes looks supernice, I haven't been unlucky enough to see a sloppy one. lol. They look really good when they have a nice sturdy shape to them and the designs are just right, one teen jingler that has nice capes is Kendra Redhouse, I don't know who makes her dresses but they do a nice job on them.

those ol ladies used to use sequins and what they could afford to make their capes, part of the original style. I like allana's and nona's. og stylin with the velvet and floral.
There can only be 2 moccasins on your feet at one time...however life has given me many pair...along with a needle, thread and really sharp teeth to cut with...lmao

I like them!!!As long as they don't flop around all crazy...I think Willow Jack has a nice one, it's just material but its nice. I'm workin on one right now.......it's hard to put so many designs in such a small place......with the beaded ones you can put a lot more detail......one day I'll get around to one of those..if i ever get my new gear done... Anywayz......thats what I think.

i think they make a jingle dress look gorgeous and different, i've seen so many different styles of them too. i also have one it's light blue and floral designs on it, there very eye catching if it looks nice. as well you stand out :)

I think the capes look nice in some styles. I like when they have like glass fire polished beads hanging off of them like a fringe. Know what I mean? I think if they're gonna have jingle hanging off them they should be the smaller capes the larger ones with jingles look kinda sloppy. Like theres just too much stuff going on on top of the dress. Just my opinion.

Have any of you ladies tried beaded yokes or vests with jingle dresses? If you have, does it work? or is it just adding more weight to the dress.
I remember that I did see one a loooonng time ago. She had a beaded yoke with a bear on it. Really complimented her dress and it didn't look out...

I've posted something about this before, but was wondering just how many people go with the vest. What have you people, in areas where the larger powwows are, observed? Are they as popular as they seem to be? I know the beaded vests are a new trend (as of last year) but have only seen pics of about...

Out of all the powwows that I have been attending over the years I now see that majority of princesses and some cloth dancers are now starting to wear Silver Crowns instead of the traditional Beaded Crowns. I was contemplating making a new apron and cape the other day and was wondering what people have seen recently regarding their construction. I am looking at going one of three avenues 1) Fully beaded...lot of weight though 2)Sequined 3)A Shiny Satin.

I have been to quite a few competitions and taken a lot of time to look at other dancers regalia. I only have one question. I have seen that quite a few jingle dancers wear a vest with their dresses, however I never...
