  • sets of beadwork

So when you bead what is all in your set of beadwork!? I kinda forgot what is all in set.

When I bead a set I bead a choker with drop, hairties, over the top headband, ring, side barretts, top hairtie barretts, and some extra barretts. I have one pair of beaded mocassins. I've never beaded leggings or purses, there just all appliqued. I'm getting my ears re-pierced this week so i'll be able to add earrings to my 2 sets of beadwork I have.

My current set of jingle beadwork has a choker (no drop), hairties, back barrette and small top barrette. I am getting beaded leggings and moccs next year though. I wear quill earrings and a quilled medicine wheel that are the same color scheme and my fan handle is beaded.

Usually when I do a set for an order, I do hairties, choker with drop, back barrette, earrings and headband.

What conprises a "set" in my mind changes somewhat according to whatever is in fashion at the time. The basics for me are mocs, leggings, purse, hairties, and barettes.

Then, if I really like the set I might make some matching extras according to what the prevailing trends call for. These might be bracelets, wrist cuffs, choker, belt buckle, finger rings, earrings, more barrettes, fan handle, medallions and what not.

If I really, really like the set then I'll make a fully beaded Northern dress yoke to go with it, LOL!

Sounds like you got a good set going there. Also take a gander in the gallery here, look at the sets of beadwork dancers are wearing.

Where in Northern Ontario is home? :)

Yea i'm working on it. All I have left to do on my new set is my over the top headband and choker then i'm done. I decided i'm gonna add some barretts and rings and earrings to my other set too. Then i'm going to get sewing on my 2 new jingle dresses.

Home is Sault Ste Marie. I was just up there not to long ago and didn't want to leave. What about you!?

One of my friends has decided she wants new beadwork and wants me to do it. I have always done my own beadwork but I dance traditional and only wear my hair ties, back barrette, two small barrettes and a bone choker (not beaded with a drop). I am perfectly capable of doing the beadwork but I'm just...
