  • Rude Jingler!

I attended a small powwow in Alabama this weekend. I don't like to rock the boat but someone has to straighten the attitude of this Jingler. I know she is from Florida and thats it.
While all of us would be doing our best in the contest she would come in and cut you off from your view of the judges. And not just slightly but within a couple of inches from stepping on your toes , to almost hitting you in the face with her arms, Which on the honor beats was even worse. Not to mention screwing with most of us on the sidestep as well.
what do you say to someone so competitive that she is willing to look bad to the audience as to all of her competitors.
It makes it really hard when someone breaks our sisterhood in the arena and brings in attitude. She wouldn't even shake hands with the winners and when she did she about broke your hand!

I think that is so sad. All I can say is I hope my kids never ever act like that, or they will get in sooooooooooo much trouble! Where was her mama????

Is this that same pow-wow where it rained all day Thursday and froze everyone Friday?

What did this chick look like?

I don't want to hate, however this young lady is beautiful, has nice clothes and is a good dancer. She will win enough on her dancing ability. It's just hard when you travel all over and in my life time of powwows, this is the ruddiest i have ever seen people treated.
We have a sisterhood in the jingle catogory & there is a certain way to carry yourself and way to respect our dresses. Why be scandalist when you have so much going for yourself!

OMG!!!!!!!! I saw the title of this thread, and just had to say something!

Coming from the north, and knowing the meaning behind this dress, to hear about this girl! grrrrrrrrrr makes me mad.

As far as I'm concerned any young lady who is a jingle dress dancer, and presenting herself like that, should have her dresses taken away from her!!! Geeeeeeeez, this really upsets me!:Yell

In the teachings that I've learned, this dress, not only the one you're wearing but the ones that other girls are wearing, should be respected. Ya dont just wear this to be cool, or just cuz ya wanna dance jingle. There are a lot of lessons to be learned when dancing this style, and I think a lot of the girls these days, just whip a dress together, and put their number on! good lord, I could go on for hrs about this, but Imma stop here, before I say something that's waaaaaaay outta line.

Just for the record, I dont dance jingle, but many women in my family do!
It takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them

i would love to learn more about jingle. when i dream i see myself in jingle dresses. I dance traditional b/c that is what i started out as....i have so many questions. i'm from six nations. why can't you spin or turn around when dancing jingle?

side step.....? can anyone embelish? i know what it is but not sure i do it properly.

and man that girl up here would get a tongue lashing as the ojibwe people from here hold jingle close to thier hearts and are not afraid to tell people what they think!!! *L*

Someone seriously should have said something. not quite who or what really. did the judges say anything to her... i am surprised if they didn't. they should have.

there are some girls up here that are okay on the arena but when it comes to walkin around the pow wow or other times throughout they just snub ya mainly....but those girls never end up makin freinds at a pow wow anyways and that's too bad cuz that;s the best part...pow wow buds....

I think I know who you are talking about!

This type of behavior really shouldn't be tolerated. :Yell
This is a way to intimidate the other dancers. Don't fall into this trap. Next time go on the opposite end of the arena. This is what I have seen other dancers do to ignore this type of intimidation: They position themselves and turn their back to the rude dancer when they get too close. I have also gone up to dancers like this and asked them if they are alright to bring attention to the fact that they are treading on thin ice. It is about respect and dancers like this have no respect for themselves. Yes, it is extremely rude behavior !!!!!!!!!!!! :Mad
For the rude dancer: Respect yourself and stop being rude and obnoxious. People do not want to see that and it is not appropriate for Jingle dress dancers or any dancers to be disrespectful.

                          Dancer from Canada :)
