  • How to make a Jingle Dress?

I want to know how to make a Jingle Dress. My cousins made mines from before and don't know how he did it. I mean where do I get the fabric and what kind of fabric do I buy?? Then how to make the rolls of the coperhegn lids?? Also like the designs on it and stuff?? Plus where do I get the fan or I don't know, I need a lot of stuff to get started. Thanks :49: :Lips:

You could use a satin or another kind of shiny fabric. Just don't get really thin stuff (the weight of the jingles). Use bias tape to attach the jingles (ribbon will fray). I have never rolled my own jingles so I can't help you there. But It helps if you draw the design of the front and back of the dress on paper before you start sewing. You can buy feathers and fanhandles at some vendor stands at powwows or you can buy them from a supplier like nocbay (www.nocbay.com). As for the design of your dress you could either design so there are no jingles on your but so you can sit down. Or my dress has slits starting at the waste they go all the way down but then they zip up so you can't see. So I can un-zip flip the flap up and sit down (I have an underskirt beneath). oh and it helps if when you go to sew on your jingles if you pin on the dress first that way you can see how they look and make sure they are spaced evenly.

Oh and the fabric will strech so don't make it really long.

    Hope I helped.

Okay I'll try to explain the zippers better. You know how some little girl dancers have a dress and then another dress over it. And the sides on the top dress below the belt aren't sewed up, rather they tie together. Well my dress is like that but instead of tying the sides together they have a zipper on them. That way it doesn't flop around and you can't see my underskirt. Does that explain it better?
