I'm working on finishing a bunch of things. So far (since I got the cast off a month ago) - I made me a ribbon shirt. Finished assembling 1 of a pair of mocs with the 2nd almost done. I cut some gorgeous brocade fabric for a dress for Miika (with heart in mouth as I only had enough fabric to "do it right" the first time).
On the list is to make some new regalia for Miika's tank and sew that brocade dress (the fabric is reversible so I'm making it so any of the pieces can be reversed) before Nov 8 (GMU pw - Miika is in the color guard for the day session). Need to finish her other moc too!
I'm also going to try to fit in getting Tainee's dress cut, sewn and the applique work attached - as well as cutting and assembling her mocs (beadwork part is done so it should go quick enough).
Then maybe I can get back to working on the beadwork on that velvet I was working on for me!!
It took a couple of weeks to get the stiffness out of my hand from the cast, so I don't think I'm doing too badly.
Oh... and Flute dude... where's the pictures????

I'm working on a hair barrette - almost done with the main body of the beading. I got this notion to use a leftover piece of material from my dress and fill in the design with beads to make a barrette for me. It's a brocade with a really pretty floral pattern to it. Kind of like a paint-by-numbers process. I don't always have the easiest go with dreaming up designs, so thought I'd try this. I'll post a pic when I'm done. I have trouble with the edge beading, but I saw a fancy dancer at the last powwow that had a barrette with edge sequin work, instead of just edge beadwork. I think I'm going to try that.

I'm still trying to finish up my niece's beaded earrings. She says the current ones are too small, but I think they're fine. OH well.... Then I'm going to work on her new crown and other accessories for her new set. It's going to be purple. I want to work on my daughter's, but I promised my niece she could have one before Gathering of next year, so I'm stuck with that project if I ever get to it.Bead All You Can Bead

Finally finished this one. Hopefully, it'll help me set up my new Straight Dance Clothes. At any rate, I love making fans and this one will be a living reminder of the sunset we saw on August 25th 2007. Check out my gallery if your interested.Attached FilesThe Creator made the feathers.....

by dancingwaterI'm starting on my leggings and hairties for my jingle outfit. I'm using the lap pads (crib liners) for the leggings, but someone here suggested using vinyl placemats for beadwork, and I went out looking for some, but the closest thing I found was at Kmart, its by Martha Stewart, called Heavy Duty...

by jen_lee34Hi,
I am new to PowWows.com. I am an amature beader. I love making earrings. My daughter is a fancy shawl dancer. I have made her earrings. But now I want to make the hair barrette for the back of her head. And would like to know if anyone could tell me how to get started. Do I bead each bead...-

by J.L. BenetDoes anyone use Inkle Looms for weaving sashes/garters for pow-wow regalia? I know it's not as nice as fingerweaving, but how accepted is it as an alternative? I've been seeing them quite often on Voyageur and French & Indian War reenactors.
