I bead a lot, especially when I am just watching tv. I have to have my hands busy, and it helps me relax.

When I was going through a major issue of hand shakings and head shaking because of an allergy... it gave me something to focus on as I tried to regain my motor skills.

I love to bead! When I have the time I get to bead at work. I have changed schedules so I can't now. But I bead at home in between the house chores and in between the basketball and softball practices. It is a necessity because having someone else bead for me can get expensive. So I might as well do it myself.

I love to bead, it only became a chore for me when people wanted custom work and then expect it the next day. So now I refuse to do such work. I work on my own littlethings and then put them up for sale. I agree with most of you that it's relaxing and a form of meditation. I love beading after a long day at work. However I can't bead with the TV on, only the radio I like my eeyes to focus on whats at hand and not roaming back and forth.

My problem is that I get discouraged fast when a project is slow going and has some problems. I cant stand taking beads back out. Ill bead non stop for a week and stop for a month.

I stick mainly to applique, i couldnt get the lazy stich lines even.

So far the only things I have done were in 11/0s, my wifes new set, well, she wants 13/0 cuts.

I was at Schemitzun back in 93 (the firs at the civic center) and sat behind a lady who was beading a pair of mocs. She was so fast I couldnt believe it. Picking up the beads sewing them on and picking up more bam bam bam. she had a whol toe done in like half an hour! It took me about 30hours to do my wifes barette which is 4x6 oval.

Selling - as you can see, 30hours on a barette, imagine getting paid hourly. That barette would cost $200!

umm... I paid 200 dollars for a barrette once.. well actually it was a pin and I turned it into a barrette. The center of it was an ivory rose.

When someone complains about your price. Tell them how many hours it will take you and multiply it by what THEY make hourly. Plus supplies!

I just got back from a trip to Oklahoma where I had a wonderful conversation with a Kiowa man and a Pawnee man about fancy dance and its hitory and also its future. The topic of outfits came up and we started talking about beadwork. Their views were that less beadwork is seen among dancers today and...

Has anyone ever seen raised beadwork on anything other than whimsies and glenngary(sp?) hats? I'm thinking of attempting to do some for a beaded set I want to work on. How well do you think it would last on leggings and a vest? Am I right in thinking that it is a row (line) of beads covered with...
