My comments are based on what I have been taught and my experiences over the years I have been around the circle. They should in no way be taken as gospel truths and are merely my opinions or attempts at passing on what I have learned while still learning more.
Be careful, there are outfits out there that sell really cheesy twisted fringe. (You ought to see some of the stuff for sale at powwows down here -- saw some that looked like tobacco juice stained vinyl.) I'd buy from someone you know does artwork themselves and will make good stuff.
If you decide to make it yourself, there are some tricks that can make it easier. I make mine in big batches and my hands get tired. So I made some tools that help make big batches go faster. I carved the end a wooden spring clothespin to fit the chuck of my electric screwdriver. Clip one end of the fringe to a table with another clothespin and put the other end in the clothespin in the screwdriver. Puch the button and zip. I screwed a brass cup hook into a nice heavy stick. Before I take the tnesion off the fringe and let it twist, I hang the stick over the fringe. It gives you a handle to keep the fringe from twisting prematurely and it serves as a weight to keep the fringe from kinking as it twists.

Always looking for new sources for materials. Anyone know where I can get neon fringe at a good price? Looking for neon fringe 4 inch, 6 inch. The fringe you hang from the bottom of dresses. Thank you.
i was wondering from those who use ribbon for fringe, what is the best type of ribbon to use? i've seen online some of the flat shawl fringe, and wondered if that was any good? thanks for your help.
No this isn't a question from me, lol. I'm just seeing what everybody thinks about this. Do you prefer ribbon fringe or shawl fringe on your shawls? Do you do all 4 sides or just 2 sides?
I've only done 2 sides on my shawls but I have one shawl that is ribbon fringe and then another shawl...
i'm wanting to switch from leather fringe to ribbon fringe on my contemporary traditional clothes, and i was wondering what type of ribbon works the best? thanks for your time.
